  1. possibly not the place to post but i'd love a thread on saying what will actually happen in words that people that don't understand the models and their individuals runs say. for example 'it looks like the north will be wet, midlands dry and south west dry' rather than 'there is a shortwave that may effect the scandi high and a reload of the zonal mild pattern developing in the atlantic.
  2. one thing i'll never understand is people getting het up because they are in a 'snow shield' or 'the north gets better snow' or 'wish we had a climate like germany'. it is a thing we can't control and never can control but still people get all upset by it. personally i like all types of weather so i'm alright but if you like sun, go somewhere sunny and don't live in the shetland isles, its not difficult.
  3. but thats wrong isn't it? people would have said the same before 2010. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 there was plenty of cold weather about AND snow.
  4. September has generally been a pleasant month. I remember going back to school after summers and it was always pleasant. What did you used to love about pleasant weather?
  5. it happens every year. not even sure its worth discussing?
  6. since the week of the world cup opener we've had about 2 days with rain. thats nearly 6 weeks of dry and often warm conditions. last 5 days over 27 degrees. personally its been brilliant.
  7. i love extreme weather as well. perhaps i'm being niave but as we live in a very wet climate the last thing i look for in summer is storms. if they come along then thats great but i love weeks of no rain in summer. I love seasonal weather. personally, and this is not knocking others i just don't like heavy rain in summer if i can help it when we get enough in winter. however, if it rains, it rains and we can't do a lot about anything we get and it does amaze me when people say 'storm shield' as if the weather hates them. it is waht it is. we all enjoy different aspects i suppose. enjoy your storms everyone.
  8. and i would like to know why people find storms so fascinating. surely the right place to ask?
  9. i do find these threads weird congratulating people for having a few bits of thunder and heavy rain? i love all sorts of weather but i'd love to know why people like storms in summer and don't like snow in winter? it seems a bit odd. each to their own though.
  10. the plume has hit. if the plume is 24 degrees at 10pm outside and no wind then i'm all in favour of it.
  11. we've had a pretty decent summer so far. maybe four or five rainy days in the last 3 months. still 22 degrees and clear blue skies in my garden. we've had far far worse.
  12. yes but we can't do anything about it can we. lord lummy you'd think we've worn the wrong coloured pants and are unlucky. IT JUST HAPPENS
  13. to me its all a bit too much. i can deal with short term stuff but long term seems to be just pointless. It never verifies to what people say and i don't see how people can interpret charts in different ways. i look at the sky and the radar for my weather. BUT i do appreciate others longer term outlooks and their interpriation on the weather.
  14. i''m afraid that means nothing to me you obviously know your weather but being a imby we've had over 2 weeks of great weather which i've thoroughly enjoyed. It broke down yesterday and i enjoyed sitting indoors watching the football. Other people get a bit prissy about the weather which i understand but i love all aspects of it.
  15. yeah but you can't do anything about it. literally nothing. it can be disappointing but why people set their mood around the weather is a bit beyond me. there are positives (unless you have an outdoor event planned) sit in and do something you enjoy knowing you are not wasting your time. Because you are certainly wasting energy on wishing the weather was better.
  16. but you cant do anything about it. why worry? today was meant to be dreadful an although it hasn't been the warmest of days we had a few showers and its lovely and sunny now. calling the weather pathetic is a bit ridiculous when you think about it. How can you change it?
  17. yeah days over 23 degrees since last Wednesday here so can't complain.
  18. doesnt you not wanting warm weather make you equally selfish?
  19. asking again. can someone actually say what they think is happening in the weather for the next couple of weeks? on the model outputs thayre too vague 'cool weekend' 'northern blocking ridge from the east south what about temps in mid whatevers and dry or wet or whatever they think? we really need more regional boards so us less educated can get more depth from those who know.
  20. so could someone give us a reasonable forecast of what is meant to happen in the next week? From the mod thread they say things like 'good charts' but don't say what they actually mean. Are they good charts for thunder lovers, settled weather lovers? i think i prefer the more regional regional threads than this as there are too many variances and we don't know what people are looking for. anyone give any clues?
  21. unbroken skies and light winds in cardiff today. a little bit of rain last night. the rain today is showing all the rain moving along the norfolk coast. weather forecasting needs to be improved or not worked upon until 12 hours out after the forecasts of torrential downpours all this week.
