  1. Midlands Today (BBC) has said that Worcestershire (where I live but they said it not me) is going to be the worst as it is going to be hit first and longest by the snow. And Blizzards is right in saying all the schools in Dudley are closed tomorrow, cos the Wife has just phoned from work and it is in the local papers.
  2. I can remember Jan 2004 when it snowed suddenly, it took 6 hours from West Bromwich to Wordsley then just outside Wordsley it was just a bit slushy and took about 15 mins from the Hospital to home in Kiddy.
  3. do you think Marks and Spencer in Kidderminster will get any snow tomorrow, as I have to take an item back and didn't want them to bring out some crazy "No refund if snowing" rule?
  4. it got down to a low of -8.1 here last night, I think that is the coldest I have known for a few years in this area.
  5. Do the UKMO get the GFS or any other models long before the general public? As the forcast was updated at 07:54 (long after the 0z and nearly 2 hrs after the 6z and is showing snow for my region, long after the NW forecast says it will last, even after the info from the 0z run. any ideas?
  6. It is a rather chilly -6.9 in the garden presently, even the dog rushed back in.
  7. The frost here started to appear at about 5 this evening, now -2.8
  8. Just wondering how you know that these premises do not already have equipment fitted to their lighting system? commercial lighting such as fluorescent and discharge lighting can have controls fitted to the circuit on the distribution boards that can reduce the amount of energy used by up to 30% yet you wouldn't even notice the reduction in light produced by them. In our house we have about half the light fittings fitted with energy savers, and the rest are spots that are going to be replaced by more energy efficient bulbs when they blow.
  9. Woohoo I am in the 70% chance of disruption map, for once.
  10. 21:00 driving from Hagley to West Bromwich there was fairly light snow falling, not enough to settle but still snow.
  11. Having just skimmed over a few threads on the subject of Global Warming I chose this general thread to post my reply. what seems apparent, is that people seem to think they will have to stop doing things completely, and in an ideal world, that would happen. But there are ways of reducing the amount of emissions put into the atmosphere, yet still carry on with a normal life and not notice any change.. I provide solutions to businesses which reduce energy consumption by anything up to 55%, this is not just on a couple of processes but on a whole range of them. For instance, a heating boiler pumps out co2 like there is no tomorrow and a lot of it is wasted because the boiler still burns energy, even when the heat exchanger cannot take anymore heat. By attaching an intelligent control unit to the boiler, it reduces the energy consumption by up to 40% meaning the emissions are reduced by 40% as well, and these controls do not cost a lot of money, in fact in most cases 1 years energy savings will pay for the unit. It is the same with electricity, by attaching a simple control box to a power unit, energy reduction can be achieved on items such as motors, lighting and other electrical items. I honestly cannot see why so many people consider reducing their carbon footprint such a dreadful complicated thing, when in fact it can be not only beneficial to the environment, but also to the pocket.
  12. So Blizzards, would you say any particular bout of wind has been your worst event? or has there been worse things caused by the weather?
  13. About 10 ft I think wich should be ample, Stourport has no flood defence and the main flooding only started this afternoon apparently and I don't think the level has peaked yet, going back tomorrow in daylight to get some more pics.
  14. Taken Late this afternoon, sorry about the Blur but forgot tripod. Bewdley Town Bridge area Back road between Bewdley and Stourport on Severn Stourport on Severn car park and play area
  15. Erm.........windy really, oh, and wet.
  16. Know how you feel there OON, even as I type I am guessing that Mrs P will be asleep right up until the point I want some of the duvet, then all hell will break loose. It just goes to show how easy going we are.
  17. same here really, it was a cloudless sky and had seen a couple before the peak time, so with high expectations I went out about 4 and drove to a place in the middle of nowhere, as soon as I parked it clouded over
  18. One of the reasons they will probably not send one to you may be because of their licence agreement with the distributors over here, if these ditributors find out they have exported one to an individual then it could cause problems from the UK guys. Just a thought.
  19. Wonder what Popeye thinks of all this?
