Just saw a flash of lightning out to sea! Looks as though southern coastal areas may hear a rumble or two in any heavy showers over the next couple of days
Very wet day here today, many areas flooded around here this evening. I hear Yalding has flooded badly again.

Heavier snow just slowing up here, left a dusting on cars, grass roofs etc

Incredible storm coming through here right now! A nice gust front with very strong winds. Insane rotation all over the place. Now under the heaviest rain i've seen in years. The sky is a really dark olive green colour, very eerie indeed!

Two distant rumbles heard here in the last 5 minutes. Feels pretty chilly outside to me this morning.

A few storms out in the channel this morning - Doesn't look like they'll get inland too much. Anyone from Brighton --> Hastings hear any rumbles from these yet?

WOW! That one was real close! Instant 'crack' after the lightning and deep roll of thunder that shook the house!
And another house shaker! -
Lightning getting a little more frequent and just heard first rumble!

Some brighter flashes here now, though I fear I may be a little too far inland to get anything too exciting.
Are more storms predicted to form behind this clump of storms? -
Can see near constant flashes towards my southeast. It's so close, may have to buy a boat so I can head out to sea!
Seen my first few flashes off to the south and South East
Fingers crossed tonight's action comes a lot closer

That new clump of storms just exploded into life - was at 98 strikes a minute just now! I can dream..
half an hour later - still going strong at 100+ strikes a minute just now. Shame i'm not down Hastings anymore.. -
Im really sorry that you have to look at such a bad picture - but it's the best i could get with my cheap smartphone. If you look close enough you may just see the 'lightning'

Just heard a lovely deep rolling peel from the channel - though haven't seen a flash yet! Odd
I'm down hastingS and seeing flashes and bolts of lightning every minute or two, so unsure why you can't? The odd deep rumble also

Pretty quiet in here this evening? A few storms out in the channel, hopefully they can nudge their way inland! I'm off down to Hastings this evening, so should at least see a couple flashes out to sea

Reports of what looked like a Tornado in Kent today, can anybody confirm??
Was out in the van working today around Sevenoaks area. I saw a very thin funnel earlier this afternoon, it didn't last long and this certainly didn't reach the ground.
It has definitely been an active day around here with spells of torrential rain and several crack of thunder throughout

Incredible rain here just now! Drains blocked in the yard and is filled with around a foot of water, just watched a large plank of wood get swept across in the flow! Now the rain has past an increase in t+L activity with some real bright flashes and deep booming thunder

Sporadic flashes of lightning here once every 1-3 minutes whilst driving back from tesco
Another rumble as I type!
Been going for around an hour now, add this on to the couple of rumbles heard late afternoon - Not bad at all! -
A deep rumble of thunder here a few mins ago, the heavy rain is certainly here! :O

Storms fired in the channel - Would be giving those in the south east a nice light display if it were dark outside, but it's not and all I can see is a blanket of white cloud
Sun is back out now and the humid feel is rising rather quickly. -
The sun has just came through the clouds here, a nice rainbow too

Well, I went to get a drink and came back to see that the storms in BoB have really upped in intensity. Gone from 50/60 strike per minute, up to 300! They certainly seem pretty intense.
Time to sit back for 6 hours or so tracking every little yellow dots progress towards me!
In the minute or so it's taken me to type this its up to 360+ strikes a minute, thats 6 strikes a second!-

Thunderstorms now kicking off in the bay of Biscay, I'm guessing this will be the area that will affect us in the southeast overnight into tomorrow?

Hi Amanda. The latest gfs charts have increased the wind speeds for the 11th storm. Inland gusts showing around 85mph currently across the south east, stronger around coastal areas.
It is however still a long long way off in forecasting terms and on the day the weather may be very different to what is currently showing. This is also only one weather model and others are not showing a storm at all. Still worth keeping an eye on mind you.
