  1. Gawd it's lovely to see this thread buzzing with snow again. Wet snow falling here on a keen wind but not enough to amount to anything. Nice to see though
  2. Yay! Glad it's not raining for you Day off tomorrow too......and I might actually get the snowshoes out if this keeps going!!!
  3. It was raining here briefly.....then graupel....then bonkers snow. Getting on for three inches now.
  4. Heavens. It's been snowing for a mere 15 mins and already everything is going white. Temp dropped from 2C to 1C very quickly.
  5. <Duly looks away> This (relatively) settled spell has been bliss, and it feels distinctly weird walking around without there being a gale blowing or getting drenched. Took the window of opportunity yesterday for a brief late afternoon/early evening jaunt up from the Lawers car park as the light was fading. First snowshoeing day of the season! Hope there will be more
  6. Bonkers snow just now turned everything white in the space of ten minutes
  7. Latest from up here in the Lomonds.... More of a westerly than Gertrude which means we get a bit more shelter. Like others have been saying, this just feels more prolonged. My wind run set a new record today of 802 miles. Just after it set a record for Gertrude of 792!
  8. Definitely noisier out there now. Sustained speeds nudging 50mph, which is the highest all day.
  9. High gust of 64mph here so far. Came home from work early after the bridge was shut, just in case it does get bad later. It was snowing when I got home!
  10. Beautiful snowy start to the day in West Lothian but by the time I left it was looking distinctly green. Happily, back home in Fife the snow hasn't gone anywhere. 0.7C and perhaps 5 or 6cm on the ground. Wind gusting to 35mph but it was gusting to 55 earlier in the day.
  11. Hard to tell how much snow has fallen as it's so unevenly distributed. Everything goes bonkers when it falls though.....in a good way -0.4C up here.
  12. Peaked here around 6am at sustained speeds of 53mph! Calmer and quieter now but it's veered a little more westerly so we're less exposed now.
  13. Same here Heaviest snow I've seen in a long while, and quite amazingly the cars, shed, fences......and even the fields are white!
  14. Nah they'll still moan. It reminds me of the first half of 2013 when we had that cold spring. Endless moaning from folk I knew about it never warming up and 'WHEN WILL SPRING EVER GET HERE!!??' comments......and then come July it was 30C and sunny for days on end. It grated to hear them swing to 'AGH IT'S TOO HOT! WHEN WILL IT EVER COOL DOWN!!??' Cretins.
  15. FINALLY!!! Blue skies, warm sunshine, cold and not a drop of rain! Such an awesome day. I spent 3 roaming about the Lomonds and then sat at the top of East Lomond, on the lee of the hill for an hour. Out of the wind and in the sunshine it was utter utter bliss Almost managed an ice day with a max of 0.1C, and the temp plunged quickly just after 3pm and is now at -1.6C. More please!!
  16. No top up here so sitting pretty at 3cm.....and -1.9C. That's cold for here!
  17. Snizzling out here now, leaving an impressive 3cm according to my rusty tape measure. A Lomonds stroll is called for on the morrow. So glad these are my days off!
  18. Cheers NL I got wetter getting some of those photos in the space of 20 minutes than I have done in whole days on rain-sodden hills. Glad that's behind us.......at least for now. What a turnaround though eh? You must be glad of the ground freezing. The farm at work were on the point of despair at how much mud was getting churned up in the fields. 0.7C here with dandruff slowly slowly slowly accumulating. It'll take a week to get an inch but......it's snow!
  19. lunch in the Ochils just now God-awful snow for walking in but gawd it's nice to be out in, and SUNSHINE TOO! I was so excited at the prospect when I parked in Glendevon I left my snowshoes in the car. Doh!
