  1. I think I read he'd been charged with some offence by the police.
  2. Glad to hear everyone (and especially Milkmaid) survived the night Once it switched to a westerly after midnight it was calm here. Aside from a stray wheelie bin and some twigs on the road, you'd never know there had been a storm. Amazing how the impacts can be so widespread but localised at the same time.
  3. Relatively calm here now that it's veered between west and southwest. In the region of 35mph. We're protected from straight westerlies.....so I'll probably be able to sleep now! G'night and stay safe, everyone.
  4. Gone almost dead calm in comparison to 20 minutes ago. Eerily quiet......and with the occasional flash of lightning.
  5. Hail and lightning here now. Ooo, and thunder. 47 gusting 59, and the temp has shot up from 2C to 6C in the space of an hour.
  6. Sustained at over 40mph now, gusting to 50. Seems to have had a shot in the arm in the past half hour.
  7. 1.9C here with a 25mph southerly wind. It was gusting to 35mph an hour ago but has calmed down a bit since.
  8. Amazing swing in the weather in less than 24 hours. Yesterday was the mildest here since 1st November at 11.1C, but plummeted to 0.8C by 8am with lying snow. Nice heavy snow falling now.
  9. Woke up to a fog-free (and above freezing) Fife but a little way down the A9 west of Perth it was thick in it.....and it didn't let up all the way into the Trossachs today. Managed to get above it on Ben Venue though. The hills were nice and white but it's purely cosmetic, and most of it will disappear with some rain to summit levels. Just have to enjoy it while it's here eh? Just like this chap was doing today
  10. Like everyone else in Fife, it seems, we were below freezing yesterday evening and then woke up above. We haven't really been below freezing since. Even now it's 0.7C. But the very light snowfall is surviving here and there, and everything outside is sparkly or crunchy. I was working in West Lothian today and managed to snap this while I was up Cockleroy Hill
  11. Wonderfully cold, frosty day. We nudged up to about 1.5C here I think but back down to zero. We went up West Lomond this afternoon as it looked as though the fog was thinning. Had to stand around for 30 minutes but it eventually cleared. Patience 'n' all that
  12. There is indeed! Flippin' great big signs at that. I did watch a lorry almost getting stuck on the final hairpin. Came sooooo close!
  13. We braved the Bealach na Ba today. The snow line had indeed lowered overnight but thankfully the gritting team had been out. Such an amazing road! Parked at the top and took a stroll in the sunshine and snow. Not nearly as windy as forecast up there, so it was a really beautiful afternoon to be on the tops:
  14. Cheers It's certainly 'bracing'. Kind of wished I'd headed out east instead as the hills were uniform white from Pitlochry to Inverness, and it's certainly colder in & around the Cairngorms. But you're right, this part of the world still takes some beating. Managed to crawl up a wee 1000ft lump this morning in between the constant hail showers. Good job I brought my ski goggles with me!
  15. I've upped sticks to Kishorn and this is the view of the Applecross peninsula this morning. Stormy, mild, and the snow line rising quickly. Sounds like it'll be coming down quickly this afternoon though Too stormy to get any walking done, sadly.
  16. Super day up here. It dawned clear and bright: Got up into the Lomonds, where there were loads of fell runners out & about enjoying the snow: Even hints of a brocken spectre on East Lomond....which was casting its shadow in the same place. ....and then the murk arrived. Now up to 1.7C, which is the warmest it's been for what seems like days!
  17. Snowing again here Cold last night, beautifully crisp and clear this morning. 10cm+ still.
  18. I was in West Lothian today, and it was pelting down in the Bathgate Hills. I managed to snap a few piccies while I was out & about at Beecraigs
  19. Well well well. I've come home to just over 10cm of snow, drifting on the hill road and a raging blizzard. Incredibly, there's nothing just a couple of km down the hill.
  20. Down to 0.4C here now, having spent most of the day hovering between 1C and 2C. It's been snowing heavily on and off all day but there's not much to show for it. A few mm in favoured spots but no more than that. The Lomonds' tops are nice and white though
  21. 0.7C and a light covering of snow here. Wet though.
  22. Temperature has fallen 3.5C in one hour here, from a high of 9.4C to 5.9C. On the slide again
