  1. Radar has you under heavy snow. Not light or moderate, heavy. You’d be a bit cheesed off if you had a lie in, checked the radar when you woke up and expected to open the curtains to a winter wonderland. Stupid hobby this.
  2. Does anyone else recall such a significant difference between radar & reality before? I can’t.
  3. The North Wales reports suggest nothing. Bone dry. Even under those deep orange and yellow colours. Bizarre - but probably best explained by these exceptionally low dewpoints.
  4. I cannot believe how deceptively promising this looks. You would think Liverpool was about to get another Feb 96. This is actually very cruel. Some light snow has to come from this, surely?
  5. Snowing on the IOM. Isle of Man Government - Peel Marina WWW.GOV.IM Web cam of Peel Marina
  6. what could possibly go wrong eh? It’s such a shame because if you just looked at the radar you would assume it was game on - especially for the Wirral.
  7. I’m absolutely amazed it’s not snowing in Abergele/Colwyn Bay - they should be getting absolutely hammered looking at the radar. What a shame.
  8. With regards to the precipitation evaporation and the false radar returns across north Wales - in theory as the front gains ground, more moisture is in the mix, the snow should make it to ground level but this could be painfully slow process. The radar on its own looks hugely more promising than I’d anticipated. If we start reading snow reports from North Wales then west of the region may have a chance, but let’s just I wouldn’t count my chickens. You never know though.
  9. Judging by the radar you would assume you were getting loads of snow. Plenty of moderate, even heavy echoes straddling the North Wales coast. Not a good omen for us it has to be said. West of the region remains the most likely place to benefit if a miracle does indeed happen.
  10. Yep Russ is correct , not many snow reports coming in from North Wales - generally dry looking at the cams and reading reports, even on Anglesey where the front should be well established by now. Don’t trust the radar today.
  11. I wonder if Merseyside might catch a few flakes today? That band isn’t far away. It’s ahead of schedule as the IOM Met office have brought forward their amber warning.
  12. The Isle of Man has an amber warning for snow for tomorrow Isle of Man Government - Sleet & Snow WWW.GOV.IM warning WRF has snow arriving in the afternoon. Not that it matters to us
  13. Anecdotally it seems like East Lancs is poorly placed for snow in general as the area often misses showers, especially on a NW’ly. Southern areas of the NW (especially SE) slightly better IMO. Would be interesting to see if this has changed over the years.
  14. @Weather-history how is the Manchester index doing? “days with snow falling” must be way above average by now surely?
  15. You remind me of me. Glass half full type of bloke. Living where we live we should be very happy with this winter. I wouldn’t say it has been a “classic” but it has been cold and I’ve lost count of the number of days it has snowed. Numerous little coverings. Many at 4-5cm and Storm Christoph (or should it be storm Chris) slightly more. Before anyone jumps at me I’m talking about south Manchester. I also have low expectations and easily pleased which for snow round here is the best way to be, trust me. It we get a 10cm fall here before winter is out, and it lasts more than a few days, I’m calling this a classic winter for here.
