  2. Welcome back chap, a real marathon of a trip should be doing 4 weeks meself next year :-) only 11 months to go B)
  3. Always sad to bring it to a close its been a funny season not much on offer Tornado wise for the month of May 213 prim reports and actual to be confirmed by the SPC not a huge number better than 2006 Still anyway Paul and team well done for the results you got proving you have to go the extra mile or miles "and I expect it was a few" to get results and of course keep everyone happy There is still a chance to capture a very rare UK Supercell and of course the rare UK Tornado, but for you Paul I think you better have a few days with the wife and family first!
  4. Hey ! good results, for naf set ups :-)
  5. like your shots paul with the stars not much grain in pic :-)
  6. It had to be within feet of you !! as i have always spouted on about a super close Lightning strike you will not really hear the thunder as the Shockwave goes away from you "the point of origin" its just BANG!!!! even a hundred yards you will hear Shotgun thunder but it longer, that you have there is a super close strike !
  7. If I was still in the Alley and there was squat all going on I would probably time allowing go see stuff or go and see if the Panhandels will work some magic, Woodward Ok has always been a lucky place for us at the Davy Inn, it is amazing how many times nothing is likely and then the Panhandels or the Caprock make things happen.
  8. Awww their cute :-) but a nice bonus when yer not looking! well done Nathan I think yer doing the right thing chap theres a lot in the USA to see and you might as well have a look whille DR is paying a visit :-( Did you go see Devils rock on way to Yellowstone ??
  9. How did you get upgraded ???? it was the steak thing wasnt it!!! I have gone to peoples aid 3 times on flights and one was down to our word wether we turned back to london or not and we still got stiffed!!! with a jelly voucher PAH!!! I bet it wasnt AA ??? glad yer back home matey, start saving for next year only 11 months and a bit to go :-) Glad you had a real good time Pat, now yer just gona have to do it all again--and again---and again and---
  10. Cant believe that only ONE tornado was reported in Miami, Roberts County Texas and that was way from the 'greater risk' of a tornado chance.
  11. Yehman go and get em, yer got to try and get what there is, look what happened to us last thursday at Lamesa tx :-)
  12. Yer right there Lorrinee spoke to Dave on the phone just didnt make it over as we were pretty much on the go for the 16 days!!
  13. Sorry you guys are looking at a bit of a D/R but yer know these things do move off eventually in the mean time I have me feet up back in the UK and enjoying the one thing you cant get in the USA, a nice Cuppa
  14. Hi Thanks, for all great replys, hope Paul and Tom and guys have fun on the rest of trip, good year full of action and yes your right Tom a Nado is just that bit extra, I just wanted to get Martin one :-( never mind another year in the mean time I have to track down the rare beast the UK Tornado :-)
  15. Hi all, busy day we got on the Miami Cell and chased i t hard I did see dark cone at he back close to core as we were driving towards Miami Tx we were nearly at intersept when Police blocked our path and wouldnt let us pass we tried to divert round but lot loads of miles on it shooting East on the 14O it just was becoming a no go :-( so we ditched it and headed through the other cells to vernon Tx ready for our journey down to DFW tomorrow for our trip home. Its been a good Tour this year No Nado but some great experiences great sights and sounds Highlites Ian doing the steak 4 almost producing Supercells and one we got stuck under when it became Stationary over our heads in Lemasa Tx loudest Hail Roar I have ever heard down near Stevensville Tx Tornado Sirens next to our hotel as a Monster Meso span above the Hotel all in all not to shabby. From Steve n Martin signing off the last chase of 2009 .
  16. We are heading initially NE to Woodward then poss Alva Ok readjusting on route, good luck everyone.
  17. LOL it was INSANE !!! it was stationary for around 90 mins and we were trapped along with others oh btw there was much bigger hail we could here it on the roof of cow shed but the pic was all we could safely get that flew into our cover :-)
  18. Thanks Paul, well the day started, with a drive down from Lawton all the way down to Aberlene and the i20, once there we wanted to drive out from under the junk and get into some clear air, Baron showed that a blast east should see it clear near Sweerwater to Colorado City, so we made the later found somet to eat fueled the car and found Wifi this was around 3pm it was around 90f outside winds from the SE it was looking grim I really wanted to believe that somet would pop, we knew we had to head north so around 1800 we headed on a route to take us nearer the dryline and North to Lubbock and Amarillo. On the way to Lamesa i spotted Towers somewhere towards Seminole so we gave chase, the cell kept splittiting and changing focus but once we got onto it just off Lamesa tx we found that the whole base was rain free on our road with heavy precip to our north so we drove right under it and onto the SE side to the rear of the core where we found our prize a roating meso with wall cloud,it was deadly quite only to be broken with loud deep long thunder Matin and I with one chaser tour group watched as it tried real hard to put a Tornado down Funnels out of the base but just couldnt make that final step the whole thing looked almost staionary! but it drifted ever so slowly NW to a point where we needed to move to see it do its last Dance , RIGHT NOW IT GETS INTERESTING <_< we only had to make a mile north to turn west and run along the SE side of the cell again the only prob was the sky was green and it was very very green in front but it was such a short distance we thought we could make it ---NOPE :o we got to the junction and was getting Munched!!!! a farm to my left had some large buildings we couldnt really see them well but we did a bit of rallying in the jeep at speed diving under some grain hoppers, the hail was about 1" maybe more but it just kept coming we sat and we sat the car was still taking hits but I was glad we wasnt exposed on the road, after a very long 30 mins or so it stopped!! now thats a long time to be under attack we were gona leave and pulled out top the road and something told me to go and hide again we dived under the hoppers only to get a second round but this was getting very windy and the hail was getting bigger I see a space in a large tin cow shed where 2 other cars and ducked and i went for it flying out from under the hoppers we drove straight into a drainage ditch  but the jeep just bounced straight out and we shot into the shed for complete cover as the larger now 2" started to gun the area, it was so loud we had to shout in each others faces to get heard this Supercell was stationary historically in this part of the Alley they are well known to be very slow or stop and this one had stopped we were trapped under a staionary supercell just west of Lamesa we waited and waited tons and tons of car wrecking ice slamming down on us very heavy rain strong winds and loads of lightning we lost Baron so we had no eyes but one of the blokes under cover managed to get a radar download on his phone I was fairly confident that as it was sationary and it had to choke its self off from the air and sure enough EVENTUALLY thats what happened and we were free men again to do our 300 mile drive to the Big T WOW!! I have never in 9 years of USA chases had that happen  Has anyone got satelite images of it ??
  19. In the Big T AFTER A MAMOUTH DRIVE !!! All i can say about what is now yesterday as it is now past 2am is ---OH MY GOD!!! and if some of you were looking at what I believe was the only supercell in the USA down at Lamesa tx you might have an idea!! to tired to think about what happened no tornado but a experience to remember, will post on Pauls new post in morning, phew! Steve and Martin
  20. Thanks for the image, its not changed much them storms started south of the boarder in Mexico and have just spiraled north, its a long wait for us not knowing if it was worth the trip
  21. Its not to bad just Simpson clouds, we moved into clear air around midday, I must admit on the way down it was a tad more breezy than it is here, might have to think about a move, but will hang on a bit longer see if anything pops
