  10. Hi, im still tired!! but heres just a quicky, I think I will submit some to the photo comp, I am really chuffed to bits with the shots, just need a bit of time to sort them out, anyway here is a SuperCell shot in our last week in texas just before producing Tornado Number 4 I really like the colours and structure.
  11. 12c!!! whats that? we are now packing up at the Super8 in Woodward Oklahoma, kind of sad we have probably seen our last storm of the trip last night from our hotel :-( but after 3 weeks we are all tired although smiles on our faces, looking forward to returning to our familys and homes. Making our way to OKC this morning for shopping a decent hotel and dekit our wagon, which has the drivers side window blown out by a passing truck (air presure we think) flights are tomorrow leaving OKC at around lunchtime to Dallas and then DFW around teatime to fly into the night and back out again landing at Gatwick around 0800 Saturday. Will post up some pics next week after I recover. Signing off from the USA. Steve
  12. Cheers Nick we are all knackered and want to come home now :-)
  13. Hi all, well all good things must come to an end and today was our last chase day, the lighting and thunder continue to crash overhead we have been in a Tornado warning and now severe Tstorm watch although the main line has passed us by now the last 2 days have been great! we hooked up with our Oklahoma Pal David Ewoldt for these 2 days, I tell yer what! this bloke knows his way around Super Cells !!! we have been diving in and out punching cores and all sorts to gain position, the result--Tornado number 4 on Tuesday and the best structure many people would have ever ever seen pics when I get home, I have stacks!!! Wednesday we had a near Tornado it tried so hard and again Dave got us in the right spot strong rotation and feed into the Meso but touch down was not to be great funnels ect but no number 5 am I getting greedy??? our best chase year ever! and some wonderful pictres and video.. Highlites for me--- well the Tornados of course, strutures, great mouth drying chases huge Hail and a great road trip with James Pete and Tom and Dave, the most memorable moment has to be Greenburg Kansas, after a great chase part of which we were sitting in Greensburg for three and half hours before moving south some 80 miles we were on the very cell which produced the first EF5 Tornado, the most destructive Tornado since May 3rd 99 as we ended our day and headed for our hotel In Pratt Kansas we decided theat we have a peep down the road towards what seemed a very unusual event, we got within 8 miles of the Tornado and that was close enough!! I was driving and even though I was slowing the car on the brakes it was being tugged down the road!!! when we stopped and got out we were exposed to a constant deep roar as trees were bent over near us being sucked into the Huge mile and half Killer Tornado. I cant put into words what I and the chaps experenced, you have seen the pictures you realy cant imagine what must have happened to them poor people and that town (WE WERE 8 MILES AWAY AND IT WAS PULLING THE CAR DOWN THE ROAD) I leave you with a great still taken by Pete Scott aka Pete The Brit of Our Tornado on Tuesday.
  14. According to there APRS signal they are hot footing it back here a line of storms is showing uptp our west but............... the mountains!!! these Tstorms dont like to go over mountains! so we will wait and see if they cross during next hour, fingers crossed for me lightning shots.
  15. Cheers guys, am feeling loads better, had the foresight being a Paramedic and all to take some Penacilline with me :-) which has helped no end plus Ibuprophene and paracetamol plus plenty of water has seen me through ! been watching the aprs signal from Team 1 I can only guess they are heading to the Meso cell in southern Montana ------ if they can make it lol-----its a long way, and lets not forget they have to return here to Spearfish tonight-----or the wee hours lol hope they get something.
  16. Hi all Pete and I have decided to disembark from the UKSTORM van and have booked in at Super8 in Spearfish on the i90 in South Dakota, 2 reasons for this Firstly I have contracted "West Nile Fever" from a blinking Bug (Moskito) who I am seriously going to Microwave pull its dam wing off and trample to death!!! it has caused me to be most ill the past 2 days but I am now on mend. Second we chased into Montana with Paul a week ago -----and I aint doing it again! 1 raod ----count them! 1 road in 1 road out there are no options you have to travel about 100miles to change direction not for me folks, so James and Tom have dumped us off at Hotel and set off towards the 2% Tornado risk area, we hope we can chill and catch some lightning tonight
  17. Hey can anyone tell them Paul, ian, and James to keep the noise down!!! they are in the next room :-)
  18. Just had a Governor steak 12oz with the onions and cowboy beans plus 2 x 32oz frozen glass buds hick! WE HAVE QUITE A LOT OF OUTFLOW IN OUR ROOM -----------PHEW!!!
  19. Just a quick pic from me, from yesterdays storms, have had some down time today but got to drinkl some beers so not much time with pics
  20. Just a quicky Paul and Ian likely to meet up with us later at Big Texan for some serious food and beer, we had a great day yesterday dropped right on the supercells over Denver got some fantastic shelfs and an unexpected Land spout Tornado on video http://www.ukstorm.net/ta2007/may14.html "VIDEO" real short lucky the window cam was running :-) cause we were having a pee at the time ---lol when we see it we ran for our cameras but missed the best, but the window cam saved the day, all in all a great day 3 tornados now in the bag! yehhhhhhhhhhhhh
  21. DAY 7 10th MAY Today we have left the south and are heading North for the isolated Tstorms in the high plains over the next 2 days, its a heck of a drive we have left Abilene Tx at 10:15 did stop for 40 mins for a bite to eat but as I write at 16:53 we are only now approching OKC wil be happy if we clear out the other side by 1800hrs our target is Salina Ks for today and then a hard drive tomorrow for intercept --hopefully :-) Ok made it to Salina Kansas just after 2200hrs staying at the Best Western, I guess we are moving the right way as Josh Wurman is here with his dopplar trucks! and his team. not the first time we have all ended up in the same place, also we have film crews and other chasers. The end result will be that we will all go out in to prob South Dakota and wait to see what pops up, dont want to follow the Dopplar trucks as this aint our style but when yer out chasing you often end up on the same cell!
  22. Hey Nick, have a good day and a good flight home, looks like you guys have had a great 07 tour which should bring a warm smile when you reflect back on the last week. cheers, Steve James Pete Tom Martin Andy
  23. Thanks all, the photo ops have been good this year, we still have to shoot some night time lightning but have not had the right type of storm to do it, ie one that isnt throwing water sideways at yer! lol I hope the pics from both teams inspire those that want to take the plunge and Storm chase the greatest severe weather on the planet. Nick and paul and team. love the spiderbut really woundnt want to find it in me room lol
  24. Oh yeh, tomorrow looks slie we are blowing out and using a travel day, we are planning to start heading up to the high plains, unless thing look diff in the morning.
  25. Ok day 6, we headed out of Brady TX and headed SW once again to find a line, the line didnt look as active as the days before but we jumped onto the most promising cell which went Tornadic! now that was all well and good but we played starty stoppy again runnig east away from the blinding rain and hail, however we were so Close to Tornado 3 it hurt a circulation started not 20 meters from us on the road it was cool and doing all the right things cloud motions started to condence in one spot movement was running in along the bottom and top of beaver tail then it started to rotate, then it got a tad windy-----very blinking windy, we were in the suck zone! blimey that really was strong sucking air from north to south across the front of the line ---- we had to flee just stayed long enough to see our circulation swamped my the rain, this was off the highway 190 near Menard tx we shot east into Menard where Tornado Sirens were wailing, and quicly realised a new cell had formed just to our SE we had to make a 80mph run for clear air, and you guessed it we got caught again, however not to bad and with some careful driving we punched out using the Baron to time our escape. Great CGs today fab thunder ended up facing the line at back at Brady took cover with our American Pals Leu and Fred outside a high school and faced the demon, it was quite intence but no Tornado that we see although several reports of Tornado from the SE cell as well as the one that passed Menard. all in all fab day, some fantastic photo ops, here is one from Pete the Brit aka Peter Scott. and another by me
