    Snizzle has got that bit heavier and more persistent in last half hr starting to lay on car and other few bits that had melted a bit earlier. temp down a little again. now -0.8c

    Temp has dropped away here ( nr charing ) currently down to -0.7c max indicated on my oregon remote thing was +0.1c and i reckon its always a tiny bit high. so gonna call it another ice day here......they dont call me a risk taker for nothing

    Whilst still fairly light the snow seems more persistent here near Charing and roads, paths etc turning white again.

    snowing heavier here ( lenham / charing near ashford ) now than at any other time during the day. Radar looking better aswell now the band seems to have re-invigorated a bit to our w/sw and finally seems to have moved that little bit further east / ne. temp has risen a bit in last hour & now at -1.7c

    The other thing to notice on the radar is that at 3.30 ish there were a few gaps in the precipitation area to the west and south of here - and these have filled in, in the last hour so there is a more definate area still trying its hardest to push into my area and then east and north east of here..... come on snow its only a ruddy motorway... you can cross it !!!!! edit - on 4.25pm update it does seem to have moved a tiny bit more and has now crossed the m20 and a few flakes falling again here - very light still though.

    looking at the last few frames on the radar ( www.meteoradar.co.uk ) the current precipitation in sussex / west kent seems to get to the line of the M20 ( Ashford to Maidstone ) and then just doesent want to go any further east !!!

    Been snowing here at Charing for last 2 hours - mostly light stuff with occ heavier burst but all pretty insignificant really. You can't help but feel a bit disappointed when you see others getting far more snow - but there was always a decent chance the precipitation wouldn't really get to mid / east / north kent today. Oh well - at least it is snowing here and we still have snow left from earlier in week which never really melted so can't complain too much. Perhaps things might pep up later this evening or another chance over weekend. Current temp -2.5c and maxed at about -2.1c earlier.

    temp dropping away quickly - max today was around +1.5c here and currently at -2.1c

    Temp has risen fairly quickly in last hour or so - currently up to +0.7c So not as cold as yesterday when stayed below freezing ( just ). Beautiful sunny day with just the odd cloud now starting to show now.

    in shorter term ie right now - pretty large area of precipitation showing on radar in east kent which seems to have expanded in last hour and echoes grown stronger. Any reports for anywhere E of canterbury with snow falling ?

    Nothing wrong with all the excitement and ofcourse one of the reasons many read & post here is because of their love of the weather - and excitement with snow in particular... including me. However, I would urge some caution here and that is not based on any technical knowledge but more having seen such situations massively built up for them only to go bust. My limited tech knowledge but many years following & researching Kent weather at least tells me to not take for granted what any model might show at present and certainly not people saying they foresee huge amounts of snow at this juncture - this is clearly giving the experts major headaches and things are bound to change right up to the last minute with things being moved further east / west, speed and amounts of precipitation etc.

    Temp dropping quickly now. Never got above -0.2c here so an ice day - well at least according to my back garden met office When out earlier in Charing we had a lovely little flurry seemingly out of v little cloud. Still a bit of lying snow about and very icy in places. All lovely winter weather with so much more to come - i hope !!! Current temp -1.6c

    Think it's fair to say though that regardless of what any run shows today, tomorrow etc there will always be high potential for things to change right up until the last minute with this situation - the good thing i see is that even if this doesent come of for us this time around, things are shown to stay cold for some time presenting us with plenty more possible opportunities over the next few weeks. Certainly no period of SW or mild milder showing anywhere.

    Radar shows shower moving into far east kent ( see herne bay above reporting snow ) - looking at current path and if it holds then hope it should reach my area ( nr charing, ashford kent )

    Agree - although it is fairly likely its just Kent and mainly E Kent at risk. But exciting for us anyway & BBC have even kept mentioning this in their forecasts today ( which will prob ruin any chance we did have !!!! )

    Understand we are due for the winds to veer NNE / NE from around midnight - feeling confident some will see a decent bit of the white stuff in Kent. Exactly where is obviously the key and over the years here I've seen snow fall for hours in a narrow band here and yet 5 miles either side nowt or v little. Will tonight favour around here ( n downs near charing ), or be just say Ashford east or maybe just clip the very far east. Half the fun is in the waiting and watching but ofcourse ALL the disappointment is in seeing places so near you get hit whilst you see nothing. Good luck to all

    Dark clouds rolling in here now. Temp remains at 0.9c What chance this being one of those occasions where the radar suddenly bursts into life over Kent - seemingly from nowhere ? Ok.... I will dream on.......

    Cloud increasing and temp dropping. Currently + 0.9c Interesting that clump that has been working its way down from Norfolk has maintained energy over land and kept on a pretty direct N to S route even with winds ( on xc weather ) showing as NW currently. Presume upper winds must have an E vector at present ? perhaps if anyone more knowledgable on here can help understand....

    Lovely day so far. Last nights snow slowly melting in places exposed to sun. Temp very slowly rising and now at +1.0c 2am last night the snow was really coming down here with a gusty wind blowing it about. Min temp I saw was 0.1c. Would have been great if that snow could have continued for a little longer last night - but hey can't complain and so nice to see the snow ( albeit only a cm or so at most ) glistening in the sunshine today. Wonder if we might get lucky at some point later today / tomorrow with perhaps a little trough coming in off north sea - certainly seems to be a fair number of nice looking radar returns and reports from folk in NE and Yorkshire etc so who knows.

    temp starting to slowly fall now. maxed out at +2.6c about half hour ago - now +2.3c

    Moderate rain in last hour. Temps not really doing much now and seem to have stalled around +2c No sign yet of rain turning back to snow but here's hoping for a bit later
