  1. Most of the roads around here seem to be fairly good (at the moment!)...

Actually made it into work in Bath today (not in my car, as the roads on my estate are still pretty dodgy).

Went outside about an hour ago and the windchill factor was awesome cold.gif (there was no wind here at 07:50 this morning).

Another 10cms in Trowbridge would be very nice, thank you!

  2. Looking good for sunday and monday then.

However, i fear the problem round here will become quite bad.

As from tomorrow, Gloucester gritters are ONLY gritting major roads and the list of roads they will grit has left my road out.

Theres a big road that goes through abbeymead and abbeydale that links us to the rest of gloucester.

Its been bad but has been gritted.

However now there is no more grit for this road.

So any snow will make it pretty much un-usable.

  3. WeatherBug now saying -7.0°c for Trowbridge!!! :wallbash:

It certainly feels very cold outside (colder than last night), but got my doubts about it's accuracy!

Maybe it was just having a "funny 5 minutes" earlier... But should I trust it?... :unknw:

Wow! That is pretty cool (quite literally!)...

Looks like a still from "The Day after Tomorrow"!!!... Although not quite at that stage (yet!)...

  4. Hi Schmac, it got down to -7.8 here last night, I'm in the newtown area so could have been a touch colder on the outskirts.

    Morning rockhopper.

Well, WeatherBug (on my BlackBerry) said it was -10 about an hour ago (not sure how accurate that is though) and someone else just down the road said it got to -10 too (but not sure where they got their info from). That's for the Paxcroft Mead area.

Solid ice on the roads around here. Doesn't look like many people are venturing out to work!

  5. This is what it says for Trowbridge right now:

    Fair: -5 °C

    Feels Like:-5 °C

    Barometer:982.05 mb and steady

    Humidity:91 %

    Visibility:9.99 km

    Dewpoint:-6 °C

    Wind:N 22.53 km/h

    Sunrise:8:12 AM

    Sunset:4:15 PM

    Thanks for that!

Will we get into negative double figures by the end of the night?...

The morning rush-hour could be "interesting"...

I just posted your figures for Trowbridge at the bottom of page 13.

    Fiona

    Thanks for that Fiona.

Are those figures available on Netweather, or from another source?!

    Thanks.

  6. It was -6 here an hour ago.. wonder how much colder it can get.

    Edit; From Boscombe Down

Hmmm, that's pretty chilly (and not a million miles from here), so the temperature here must be somewhere in that region too, if I had to guess.

I think it's got down to as low as about -8.5 here in recent weeks, so tonight could beat that

I'm getting sorely tempted to buy myself a basic weather station... Should have asked for one for Christmas, with hindsight! :)

  7. I'm just so jealous now. The whole country has had decent snowfall and all we have had in West Cornwall is a brief dusting. Just what needs to happen for a decent dumping down this far west?

I know how you feel! I used to live just outside of St. Ives (until 2000) and the only decent snow I can remember was 1991!

Maybe you'll get some on Sunday, if things pan-out as hinted to on here!

Currently clear skies over Trowbridge... Does anyone in this area know how cold it is at the moment?... Unfortunately I don't own any "weather gadgets"!

  8. Nice pictures Schmac, the only time our town looks pretty is when its covered in snow! lol

    Cheers rockhopper.

At 01:30 this morning, I was wondering whether we were actually going to get any snow at all! Had a look out the window at 05:30 and there was a slight covering, so was really surprised at the amount we had when I got up at 07:00!! It must've hammered it down! :girl_devil:

Here's hoping that the South West can get another pasting on Sunday (although that's a long way off - in snow-forecasting terms!).

  9. Hi everyone.

Have been following this thread for a while now (since about Part 3 (I think!)).

It was great to wake up to about 10-12cms of snow this morning, as Trowbridge has been in the "No-snow Zone" all winter so far!

Long may this cold, snowy spell continue!!!

It was snowing here about 20 minutes ago, but has stopped again now.

Thought we were in for a bit more around now (looking at the NW Radar), but it looks like it's slipping just South of here... Typical!

Attached (hopefully!) are a few pictures of Trowbridge in the snow.
