  1. Finally, settling Chatham, 3 miles hills SW of Canterbury. It's just a bit late that's all and temps were a bit higher and took a while to come down. Right, back to sleep
  2. Looks for all the world like someone bent over to do up their shoelaces and then froze to death in the image
  3. One tick away from red warning! Likelihood just has to rate up by one point. So poss of red warning tonight when it's a few hours away maybe? Although Red for a Sunday during lockdown might be overplaying it as travel and movement limited
  4. Ok let's go for it Top of Charing Hill sort of area. Let's go with 28cm
  5. Trouble is, as I just posted, too much move NW and there's a real chance of bringing in some sleet which starts to creep into extreme SE. So improvement for some is a deterioration for others, potentially at least
  6. Yes thats interesting. The last YT met office forecast with Alex Deakin, about an hour ago, he did not downplay the snow at all, but did say "now and again there may be bits of rain mixed in with this. If this goes further NW certainly Kent could possibly end up with more of a rainy mix. So imby id rather the low stayed right where it is. But what will be will be
  7. Possibly not. With a low pressure i think the winds tend to blow in towards the centre of the low a bit, rather than following the isobar lines precisely. So it could be more NEsterly.
  8. Like all seas they are absorbing the heat of the global 1 to 1.5C rise and likely won't get down to the minima of decades ago. Pattern for the extreme SE is late Feb / early March snow when the channel and in particular N Sea are maybe just low enough in temperature. Although they will slowly get warmer so as Paul Sherman said earlier, colder winters become rarer over time. And summers hotter too if that's your thing!
  9. Tbh I remember living in Maidstone in the 80s and even then if it was from the west we'd get a few rapid inches but then rain and almost immediate thaw. NE shower train off north sea and east Europe fed cold uppers and you'd just watch it build up and up. That can still happen, but N Sea about 1 to 1.5C warmer than it ever has been so we now need really cold air
  10. We may get a last shout end Feb beginning March, when the N Sea has cooled to about as cool as it might get in the far SE. But if no then you're right. I will enjoy those early warm sunny days in my sun trap patio! Few years back got something like 17C around 10th March, which in the sun was fab!
  11. Generally bad always here except for one of two rare events now and again. Global warming and almost always anomalous high sea temperature moderates weather way too much here now. Father in law near Leicester, hammering down with snow. Unless very cold eastern Europe temps creep across from the East any events like this are best towards midlands
  12. Wow. Temp -1.7, DP - 2.6 at moderate elevation 250ft SW of Canterbury. I guess we might also see a dramatic rise?
  13. Seems elevation makes the difference. Top of hill at Chartham, snow about 2 cm and still snowing. Bottom of hill sleety rain
  14. A final picture. It was great here in the Downs behind Chartham, Canterbury. Best since probably 2010
  15. Moderate to heavy again. Small flakes but coming down at a real rate. Another cm or two added. Chartham near Canterbury
  16. Just a light shower started here. Baby cloud. Won't amount to anything but just goes to show how easily snow will fall at the moment
  17. Well had to walk down to Chartham station this morning at 6.30. Going nowhere by car. Trains all cancelled. Walked back!
