  1. I reckon im going to avoid the mod thread for the next two days! Maybe ill then come back to some more clarity and no more biased arguments! Glad too see some get a reasonable fall, nothing will better last hear when we had 9inches fall in just over 3 hours!
  2. very nice, good too see its for real.... i would show you mine although puddles are quite common!
  3. not a mssive amount of hieght here so i dont think any amound of undercut tonight will produce the white stuff!!! lots of reports from friends on fb from across devon bragging with the snow, even a few pics sneaking on..... about time someone should upload one in here to help reduce the sobbing when we go too bed!!!!
  4. All looks really promising going forward, although going by some on the mod disscussion thread it has to be too good to be true!?!
  5. godot, is that a tree on fire in your first shot or just lighting? ignore this, im tired lol
  6. i live right at the top of exeter, can see all of exmouth in the distance, some beautiful lightning much better by eye than webcam lol
  7. me too, but cant see it catching us here full on!
  8. yup, i can confirm im seeing these faint flashes, followed sometime later by faint rumbles out to the south.... long long way away and not coming any closer unfortunately!!!
  9. maybe even us down in exeter will get some remnants if they last the channel, do you think we are in with a chance?
  10. best one has to be the 20th december 2010...... i think the official figures from exeter airport were 22cm in a 3 hour period, this was accompanied with thunder and lightning! this was good snow although not as good as the 2nd best event on 5th january 2010 where we had around 4 inches of powder snow. 3rd has to be 2nd feb 2009 and this deliverd about 5 inches although very wet snow, i did manage a quick journey to okehampton that day where the had 19 inches fall overnight!!!!!!
  11. i have been rooting around in my loft today, and i have found an old newspaper. it is the western morning news, which as you can probably guess covers the southwest. now the date was what first caught my eye....13.01.1987.... i immediately thought that was quite snazzy as its a few days before i was born. then being a weather enthusiast my eyes caught glimpse of the headline on the front 'white hell with more on the way'. i read the article, which was more than extensive and some of the points in there were quite amazing. a foot of snow fell in penzance in 9 hours was probably the best one along with an extract from a national paper of big ben struggling to chime as his works had froze! i would imagine from reading this 1987 is held in high regards in these parts. it has a hand drawn forecast map showing that we had strong easterly winds i think. even the isles of scilly had 4 inches. can anybody else remember this and there experiences?
  12. Im not sure if someone has highlighted this competetion on here befroe or even if i am putting it in the right section, but some of you might fancy having a go, and with all your knowledge im sure there will be a fair few that rake in a crisp tenner (excuse the pun) http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/corporate/pressoffice/2010/pr20100917.html this link explains the criteria for the competition http://www.walkers.co.uk/rainyday/home/default.aspx?fr=home this one is to enter the competition. i dont know if this violates any forum rules or not so apologies in advance if it does. best of luck otherwise!
