  1. On the model thread someone put some charts that showed it would bring snow monday and tuesday with strong winds.
  2. Well looking at charts in model chat thread surely it cant snow monday tuesday with high winds!, crikey that would be good to see!
  3. I cant believe it will snow even monday what the charts are showing, if it did that and all weekend there surely would be dollops of the stuff!
  4. Well I really hope everyone does well this time but even more so yorkshire, I measured 16 inch of snow December 2010 and that was amazing for the low part of sheffield it would be great if that can be equalled or bettered !
  5. Surely it won't snow all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday here, I'd love to see that lot pile up lol!
  6. Well after a good start yesterday in sheffield we had a poor finish with only a dusting now , will we get lucky end of week I wonder?
  7. Yeah it was a flop here in Sheffield, it never got going!. I think that could be the last shot this year of something semi decent.
  8. Really woefull in Sheffield with this, expected way much more than this dusting. May has well have put a bag of flour down. I like snow but if this is it for this year I'd rather it got a tad milder.
  9. I nearly fell through floor when they said 8 inch, I hope Sheffield cops some, I've been telling people it's coming lol
  10. Well i know the forecast was for snow but i really thought it was miss here. We must have about 7-8cm here too which im surprised at.
  11. Im no specialist on charts, very basic, however since all theyve shown the last few days of cold mild cold etc, im going to hold back untill things look a little more set. I will say though it would be good to have one more 'fling' before winters out!
  12. I was alive in 91, all i can remember was ice inside the windows (before double glazed days!), and snow here in sheffield about 2 foot deep (seriously), i was only 8, but i remember it well and imo it was the last really bad snowy weather here!
  13. Couple of interesting views there, and 2 completely different views!. Imo i would say the uk would struggle, i dont think folk over here are cut out for it, unlike the yanks and canadians imo. As for 1947 in turmoil. I saw that on the news with the rescue service, however how come grannies tell me that they walked in it waiste deep and 'got on with it'!?. It could be that in them days there was more of a tougher attitude, where as nowadays people dont appear to make the effort. Anyway thats my own personal views, and everyones different so thanks:)
  14. Im pretty sure this will have come up many times before, however i have always wondered. Has good as this winter has been this year for lots of snow, and cold mostly, in your opinion do you think that these years style winters will ever return to the uk? Also how do you think if it came about, the uk would cope with such deep snow and freezing temps.? This is just a curious question, and is just for light hearted fun, cheers:)
  15. Im trying to understand these charts a little bit more, having just looked at the one with the 1947/63 esk to them. How likely do we think they would come off in this day in age?. Those years were serious, as ya granny says:whistling:
  16. This isnt something to do with the snow here in the uk, however yesterday when i mentioned why doesnt the uk have REALLY thick snow. Anyway i have stumbled across a very good news interview here in the usa from this year!:drinks:Thats what i would love to see here, although i really cannot see that!
  17. Cheers, i remember one in particaular cold spell where we had ice inside the house before double glazed days!, oh and wheelie bins!, 1991 we had deep snow, mustve been 18 inches or more here!
  18. The last month has been a great month for cold. However i often wonder if we will ever get a canadian/usa style snow storm where we get say 2 foot of snow in 24 hours, that would be cool?:)
  19. Snow as gone very slushy here, and melting. So thats allover for now, maybe we may get some more in few weeks?
  20. Well surprisngly i drove higher up in sheffield and it as been a bliazzard tbh all be it wet snow!, was surprised thought that was it:D
  21. I was very dissapointed with today, last night the thought of another foot of snow on top of around 6 inches wouldve been sensational, as it turned it wasnt to be and i may have a clear path in the morning!. Would love to see a canadian style winter here however they do seem thin on the ground. Maybe i should move:D
  22. Well lets hope it does get cold and snowy again. Cold and damp is awfull, and mild winters just get boring, however all things said i dont think people will forget this spell in an hurry, been a brilliant run!
  23. So the cold air may return soon?. My i ask where do people get to see these different model charts that show weather systems etc, do you need something on your computer ? thanks.
