Don't like to bash the met office but the warnings this week have been shocking . Us on east coast all week for frequent snow showers, hardly been any. The amber warning today , yes we are not in it but looking at radar its does not look disruptive unless im jumping the gun and its a system coming in later
You're posting on here for fun, they have millions of people to 'look after' they need to cover worst case scenario for the safety of those lives.

My take on Thursday for most of Teesside. Will start of as light snow, turn to sleet pretty quickly and then to rain with no accumulations.

It’s going to be another non event isn’t it?
I did say that a few days back. It's March, to get any decent snow to low levels in Teesside, you need an exceptional cold spell. We struggle in January and February, never mind March.

Why you say that ? don’t listen to them in the mod thread there mainly talking about down south . Today has upgraded for us
Nothing to do with what they say, it's years of experience of disappointment. To get anything worthwhile in parts of Teesside requires something spectacular and that's mid winter, never mind March.

I'm putting it out there, non event for most of Teesside area.

Still snowing and starting to settle
Totally wet in Thornaby. Not even tried to lay.

A good 3 months I would say of potential snowmen building, admittedly after early March it becomes harder to sustain snow cover, but certainly March and April can deliver a punch, not even half way through the snow season yet.
Anythings got potential, but having a few snowflakes from the last cold spell, I don't hold any hope.

You seem to be telling people what to do. Let me return the favour, put this kind of post in the moaning thread
Where no one will see it. It will be much better for everyone involved if we actually stop being silly on such topics.

We haven't had many cold Januarys recently, but the potential for this year to be different is now becoming easier to see, and its the trend that is now clearly our friend !
There is potential every year, nothing makes this new year any special. It's like groundhog year on these forums sometimes.
And while on the subject, people need to stop comparing past weather events to what they are seeing because it looks vaguely similar by 10%. The last cold spell, there was people shouting 2010 all over. In 2010, I had a foot of snow and snow lying on the ground for nearly a month. Last cold spell, I seen about 50 flakes of snow in total. People need to stop being over dramatic, it's not good for anyone.

The cold was there for all, just not the snow. It delivered cold for at least a week and a half. The luck off ppn being present, or sea temps keeping coastal stuff as rain or sleet was just that, bad luck. May be next cold spell you might get the luck, and others might not.
But the vast majority in winter on here want snow do they not? I live in the North East of England and didn't see any at all. Also it wasn't just about me, but a lot of people who didn't see anything.

Who said it does ?
I am pointing out pattern matching and saying Decembers do this and Januarys do that is pointless
Reading it, it seems you are saying the opposite

I was saying about how unremarkable Decembers can be because the first 2 weeks of this month bucked the trend - January could well throw a shock or two at us .
I don't think the weather thinks or works like that.

Fair enough but winter so far has exceeded a lot of folks expectations already.
And it hasn't for a lot more.

A gentle reminder that it’s only December 26th. Just saying.
A gentle reminder that we say this every year but every year most people come out of winter into spring disappointed

I'm starting to concede with this cold spell although seen a few cm from it. Saying that though, we're only part way through the warnings that state several cm to lower levels so we'll see what happens. If you look on the matrix too it's near the highly likely bit so meto must be seeing something we aren't.
Good to see you posting mate. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Don't forget, the warning is for snow and ice, so that's why it's probably highly likely.

I think that's disrespectful to the many posters on there who are knowledgeable and even said this is not like 2010. Sure some may be hyperbole but the vast majority are not imo.
The mods need to clamp down on the posters who shout boom, 2010 and 62/63 every time there is a cold spell.

Not to the extent I assume. A spec on the coast is all I could see
I'd zoom in to the map, it's certainly not just showing the coast.

His point is read his post again! At what point did he say that the chart he showed was showing snow over Yorkshire?
The chart does show snow over Yorkshire though, in line with what the forecast from Look North was.

The point I was making was the chart I highlighted showed little if any snow for northern england thursday evening/night.. Yet bbc look north have just forecast a couple cm in places for yorkshire tomorrow evening/overnight..
So what I am saying is even down to just 24 hours or less a chart can be very wrong.
I never said that this charts shows much snow for yorkshire.
I'm lost? The chart you have posted is showing what Look North have stated?

I would say they change dramatically even down to <24 hours. Just look at what gfs is showing for tomorrow evening/night (almost nothing for northern england)
Yet bbc look north for yorkshire just predicted a couple cm in places..
That shows snow for Yorkshire?

What's typical about it? The A66 can get atrocious weather over the highest points of the route.
