  1. GFS 48 shows the low further south as oppose to the NAE charts at present. So the models do have disagreements with regards to the centre of the low. So far I would prefer the GFS but will wait and see what tomorrow brings as we all know how rapidly things can change. Its certainly going to be a lively end to the week.
  2. hello all. Back again for another winter. Any news on what lies ahead for us over the next week or so. Have not yet renewed my extra account just yet, waiting for di money to arrive first. Currently in colchester and have been watching wave after wave of showers heading in this direction but fizzle out over west london. Was hoping to see a sleet/snow flurry today but have been preparing the best window's in the house ready for the lampost watching to come in the coming days/weeks
  3. I wouldnt mind betting that this band may well reach london as the winds should swing more to an easterly direction. If this does indeed happen many more in the SE may see snow. Just have to keep radar and lampost watch.
  4. I first noticed it on the meteogroup radar on my iphone 3gs when i was at a work meeting in chelmsford @4pm. I am a tradesman and been travelling quiet a bit today and have seen quiet a bit of snow. Made it back home in time though as my van does not like the snow and ice.
  5. There is a large area of ppn out in the north sea moving towords SE. It looks like this could hit a larger area as it is just north east of essex. could see something from this within the next few hours.
  6. does anyone know how likely colchester will be to get snow?
  7. GFS charts looking good from about 3am onwards, will check the radar soon and lamppost watching.
  8. The met office will never get it right when their models are based using co2 and global warming. maybe in another 50 years when it has not happened then they may be able to get it right.
  9. checking bbc, sky news and met office to see what the forecast is. hope peter cockroft is correct on the nw flow. no snow for the souheast appart from the eastern costal regions. Milder air to bring rain come monday.
  10. Wow, Fantastic. I can now see where the ppn is in relation to my location. Thanks very much for the improvment. Time to extend my sub.
  11. Check out the new netweather radar. Currently in beta stage. Looks well cool. Quote from link above top of page. The radar can be accessed here: http://www.netweathe...darv5beta;sess= A lot of work has gone into this new system, so we really hope you like it - please bear in mind that as a first beta there will be some bugs and it currently has only a limited feature set, but we will be updating a regular intervals prior to a final release of the finished version.
  12. temps here in colchester 1c and falling. A few snow showers so far, little has settled. Hope the band of showers merge and move slightly westward.
  13. Looking increasingly likely we will see snow come friday. BBC even mentioning friday. Fingers crossed
  14. Temps here in Colchester currently stand @6c. Temps will have to drop but hopefully see some snow around midnight. fingers crossed.
  15. What are the chances of the southern flank of the weather front pepping up a bit in the english channel?
  16. I now live in colchester but lived in west wales for 14 yrs and going by my experience this frontal system is moving pretty fast and im going to say that this will sweep accross the country quiet quickly. The main problem is that the strong winds may drag in the milder air further east and produce rain rather than snow. I am pretty confident that we in the south east will see this ppn hit us by morning. Fingers Crossed.
  17. been snowing on and off now here in colchester for the last half hour or so. wind has swung to more of an east to west flow now. Why cant bbc or sky launch a dedicated weather channel with regular updates rather than thease poor forecasts using outdated model data.
  18. had a big snow flurry in colchester, no idea where it came from as there is nothing on the radar. will the increase in temps spark some event off? I have never seen the weather bahave so strange before and the ppn in the east seems to have stalled.
  19. bbc now saying no snow for the south east including monday. temps in colchester around 3c. thaw setting in and no ppn watsoever. will the snow over wales move west or east toword us as the day goes on?
  20. Im in colchester and yes its snowing. moderate levells at the moment. any snow in chelmsford yet?
  21. watching on sky news via interactive. persistent snow for sunday too. monday shows a band of snow from east cost stretching accross to wales and as far north as northern england. so hopefully snow for many on monday.
  22. sky forecasting heavy snow on monday throughout the UK on monday with upto 40cm of snowfall in many places. hope this happens just starting to snow now in colchester. very light at the moment.
  23. hello all new member. Im in colchester essex and have about 4inches of snow. the snow getting close no me now. bbc forecast now saying no snow for the south on sunday now!
