This is nice Been snowing for a few hours now, about 1.5cm on top of the existing 18cm
-
Now that is good news!!
I take it you mean London aswell and not just kent or the coast?
The area covered by this thread as a whole. The coast will probably see less because it will fall as sleet/rain etc though the NAE also seems keen to have it fall as snow throughout, so who knows Things are starting to look promising
-
No more snow yet for me please. Every time my daughter tries to go back to uni it snows and my son has an A level exam tommorrow and if we get big snow falls there will be no teachers in to watch over the students who get there for exams.
I wish mother nature would wait a couple of weeks before doing this to us again.
Has she made it back yet SQ1? I'm still here until Saturday lol It should ideally be at UEA already
-
I see the 12z NAE increase the precip for most of our region, before it was 1-3cm widely now it seems 2-5cm is more likely.
-
as expected, Darren seemed more excited about the mild air returning this weekend than this afternoon's snowfall in the SW.
still, 1-3cm widely over the region tomorrow morning seems likely.
-
Oh Dear, mild ramper Darren Bett is doing the forecast on BBC One, and his first line so far on News Channel has been 'it will turn milder this weekend'.
-
Oh so could I expect something here in East Berkshire then? Other than sleet....? I'd have thought I was too far East!!
Depends on the complicated setup I guess, as explained by Nick F earlier. I should rephrase, the NAE suggests 1-3 mm widely, whether that falls entirely as snow or not is up for debate...
-
18z NAE suggests 1-3cm widely across most of our region, maybe as much as 4-5cm over Hampshire.
-
Has it slowed up on its Westward Track?Or is it the case of as it gets nearer me im going to die out type scenerio
It seems to have fizzled out on the southern side but stayed moderate over north Kent
Still can't complain after yesterday I guess!
-
about one flake every 5 seconds, nothing major yet
-
getting heavier as it moves across east Kent!
Estimate arrival here around 20:45ish
-
7C on Friday according to BBC 8pm update (12z model)!
-
Thank you Mikel Nimbus for this. So overall 850 uppers of around -8C or less, plus 528 dam or less, plus dew point <0C, plus surface air temp of as close to 0C as possible (up to 2C?) is overall a higher probability for snow.
plus precipitation

Keep an eye on that front coming in from the Atlantic on Tuesday. Last Tuesday the forecast changed rapidly from Sunday, from 10cm widely to up to 40cm in some parts of CS England. So there is every chance that the forecast can change this week and the front doesn't still where it is expected to currently.
-
Odd flake falling here and there this evening, nothing majorly exciting and probably drizzle if it was warm enough. 0.8C and a lot of snow on the ground.
-
proper convection running down the Thames north of Whitstaballs at the moment, heading for Sheppey and then London
-
Main A229 through the Weald seems fine, some slush in the middle of the road, and massive pile of snow on both sides narrowing the road to a certain extent. It's quite quiet out there today but at least it's all moving. Housing estates and country lanes are a different scenario though. Widespread compact snow about 5cm-10cm thick on top of the road itself, very slippery and very dangerous to drive on
-
Looking at it, it appears that those areas that got a good dump in February have seen very little this time round, whilst those who got very little in February appear to have a good amount now (like myself and Neil for example). Interesting that just a small shift in wind direction can make all the difference.
-
mod. snow here too
-
LOL- yes even more ironic if the Kent snow all melted & it snowed heavy in South Essex & NW KENT + london....
Wheres the irony smiley.....
S
:)
-
Convection over the North kent coast at the moment moving STILL all points SW- although im expecting a turn west in + 3 hours-
expect the same places as the last 4/5 days to get a peppering of showers- nothing substantial though-
S
It's sleet and rain here at the moment Steve. drip drip drip...
-
Yep agreed. Countryfile says snow for Central south and south east from tuesday to thursday , temps 2 to 5oC generally throughout, no frost at night, with
temps staying around 1 or 2oC at night. We are gonna run out of grit for sure if it does snow for 3 days solid !! Front will stall NW SE on Thursday and then fizzle out as a
Col forms over the UK on Friday.
So ice likely to be more of a problem this week than last. The snow was still 'dry' and hadn't melted last week, so ice wasn't such an issue. With temps above freezing all week the snow will thaw and freeze overnight. Grit is definitely going to be needed this week!
-
really big thaw going on here ,it's all slushy crap now. 23cm of slushy crap. to think it was lovely, perfect dry snow yesterday! and occasional rain/sleet showers too
-
I see Heart is still waffling on about the potential of a further 20cm! When will they learn!?
