  1. Shall we look at the models??? They usually predict the forecast that far out don't they
  2. 'bear with him as he's moved house'!! Lucky he wasn't female, would have been patted on the head and told 'there, there, hormone problems love???' lol Dancing Daisy - Cool post on the fiery forum. Gonna be a bumpy ride me thinks. Let's get the cold in and then worry about the snow. I'll be happy with some frosty mornings, sunny days and the chance of feet of snow......
  3. I think the sea temp round here (Somerset/Devon) was about 12 degrees in December and may have helped the Atlantic depressions sweep in (??). Not that I surf come the end of October - being a complete wimp - but husband does (mad!) and he said it was warm. I wonder what the sea temp was when we DID get the snow???
  4. nooooooooo - don't tell us that YET! Yout tempted us the other night on Points West mentioning some 'changes' later in the month. Organise a snowman fest instead!!!
  5. I was working last night in Porlock. A39 closed from 10pm, landslides, water bubbling up through tarmac, roads awash - it was terrible. We had a 4x4 so pushed on through and the amount of 'normal' cars that followed us was unbelievable. Got to my friend's house and I was not going to get home using my little car so called Hub and he came out to fetch me in the tractor! Waist deep water at stretches on the A39, cars had tried to get through (????) and now stuck, Williton was just water then huge landslides in the lanes towards home, awful. Parked in a field and walked the rest of the way home. I have never seen anything like this before, it was horrendous and in a strange way mesmerising to see what nature can actually throw at us in such a short space of time.
  6. I haven't heard from mine either - he's a teenager so not expecting him to!! No news is good news in my eyes. Cat refusing to go out, don't blame her.
  7. I agree Little Missy, it's just picking up even more here as well. I have two of my children home now, one more to come home by bus from Taunton but travelling at the time the radar has the line on us, waiting game.
  8. Damp and cold here. Not a smattering of snow to lift my mood! Well done to those that did. I don't dare look at the model thread - I can't take any more of is it? will it? here it comes? and..............nothing!
  9. This time yesterday we had nothing at all to get excited/depressed about, now we have this. It may even shift more westwards on the next run - who knows???? I'm sure Ian F said something about the winds coming up from France too, now would that mean rain moving south, runs into cold air, turns to snow, and then cannot move anywhere because of the wind. Does that mean STALLING or not
  10. Chit chat going on about each run pushing it West. Ian F going for an explanation at 6.30. Evolving front and this is getting closer and closer to us - can't believe this one popped up out of nowhere too. As they say, 'get the cold in first then wait for the snow'.
  11. Williton way. We are just lower than the snow line from last weeks snow fall. Gutting that was!!! Still snowing here and a very, very, very, light covering. Getting bursts of heavier stuff as well - though under no illusion it will remain this way.
  12. I wish! stuck between the Quantocks and the Brendons - down in the valley! Hill snow will be my next wish for tomorrow. Pleased to see the met office warning now extending as well.
  13. The lunchtime weather on PW only went to 3pm with the lovely rain graphic slap bang over me, yet she talked about 5cm of snow across the region. Straw clutching - but perhaps they really don't know??
  14. At least you haven't been given rain from the word go. LIKE ME I can just imagine it this weekend - pictures everywhere of snow laden countryside while we fix wheels to our sledges and have fun in the mud. Oh well, I hope the thief of our salt bags (last night) starts to cry when he/she sees the weather.
  15. It is the hills then! Can you blow it downwards towards Minehead, on to Williton and then a small turn right towards Monksilver please - that will then hit me on its way. Just raining down here, as its done for the past 4 hours.
  16. It was good news last night - snow. This morning a down grade as now have rain given for Sunday/Monday. Those battle grounds between mild and cold must be a nightmare to predict I will try and not stress about it too much!! Well not until Sunday lunch weather prediction anyway.
  17. It could change. Last night I had nothing forecast over our way, now at least there is hope.....
  18. V. light rain at the mo here. New birthday weather station not set up yet so can't comment on any temps. The snow may completely miss West Somerset too and all we get is rain in the morning.
  19. FROM ACCUWEATHER SITE An Isolated Shower Along the Southwest Coast of England What has our weather come too if an isolated shower makes the headline!!! And it's of rain too!!
  20. Looks like it will be a rain event tonight here in West Somerset. Such a shame, to be shown the charts the other day and think 'snow', then to have it cruelly taken away by this morning charts! I will cling to the eternal hope that they MAY be wrong and the cold may be further south and snow will fall.
