  1. Come on, we can't complain about our summer this year as it's been brilliant up to now.  i for one am glad to see it raining (and with cooler temperatures) again after the past 2 months heat and sun.  I'm not saying i want it to stay that way for months on end now but the recent heat really didn't do much for me and temperatures in the early to mid twenties are far far nicer an easier to handle.  Britain (or rather the British) don't do heatwaves very well.  It's not in our genes :)

  2. As much as I love the cold and snow, even I now want some warmth after the past month or so of beasts from the east.  As fun as it has been its now time for us to enjoy a few months of nice warm weather.  Let's just hope this coming winter gets its act together a bit earlier in the season so we can enjoy a real cold and snowy winter rather than leaving it until March or April, when even the die hard coldies are sick of it then too.

Snow almost evaporating to nought here :D Cambridge :'(

was a better snow event than i expected yesterday.  ended up with over 5cm of lyng snow which hasnt thawed so far today either.  very icy too.  its just a shame that the two recent events were so windy  as it would have been nice to have seen softly falling snow rather than sideways snow.lol.  oh well better to have any snow than no snow so i'm very happy with the way this winter has turned out after all.

  4. well after lots of light snow showers throughout the day it finally started to settle everywhere earlier this evening and we now have a decent covering everywhere.  Actually wasn't pinning my hopes on us getting as much as we have to be honest and knowing it is probably the last decent snowfall of this winter i am happy with the 3 decent snow events we've had this winter now.  Lets hope the coming winter starts off the way this one is finishing and we have numerous easterly events early in the season rather than the back end of it.

  5. An hour ago i was saying how odd it was that the snow was settling on cars, roofs but not on the roads and pavements even after snowing for a few hours albeit lightly.  Then i looked out the window an hour later and the pavements and road are now covered.  Obviously the warmth in the ground from last week has finally been diminished and the snow can finally take hold.

Will never understand why they are bickering in there lol

maybe its because they are so snow starved, it can make the most sane person go crazy i guess.i rant enough and i shouldnt really complain as this is my third snow event this winter.

Yup. It is lasting well in the shade here though.

Why are some writing this off before it has even begun? Really irritates me.

maybe because we've been hyped up too many times before only to be disappointed?

  9. have a feeling this is going to be a non event for us here in the east midlands.  few very light showers earlier but brighter now.  give me the warmth now.  had enough of these piddly snow events this winter.  too little too late.  What annoys me though is we have the cold in this region but not the snow and those further south have the snow but not the cold enough air to let the snow settle.

Been snowing steadily here, a mixture of heavy and light. Im not too fussed about the snow depths. The thing that amazes me is the fact that it is very cold and some areas are seeing heavy and lying snow and it is mid March!!!. It is truly amazing.

    Hope everyone enjoys themselves :)

in the UK we are more likely to have snow in March and April that we are in December.  Contrary to popular conceptions (eg, christmas cards, etc).  thats always been the reality and not just because of global warming.  If anything maybe they should consider changing our winter season instead of being December, January and February to February, March and April instead?

What a waste of snow, ground way to warm, just wet not white!!

isnt it just typical of the UK. you get the heavy snow but your air is milder and the snow finds it hard to settle, whereas we have colder air but very little snow.  What little snow we would have would definately settle here but alas all we get is piddly little snowflakes thats not enough to amount to anything.

true, that was a good snowfall....just a pity it didnt hang around for more than a day or two though.  it was a wasted snowfall opportunity.

And from my 12 years of living in Northampton everytime we get snow we always seems to get more or less the same amount of snow.  Okay some snow is better than none but i don't think i've ever seen more than 5cms lying snow.  It always seems to be the same amount everytime.  Never a huge amount.

what i want to know is, whenever they show snowfall forecasts, Northamptonshire is almost always in the one dry zone that is shown.  Why is that?  Btw there is light snow blowing around in the wind at the moment but hardly anything to get excited about.

Just seen the BBC forecast,  Jesus those new graphics really are crap.

All I could see was lots of clouds floating around, are they meant to be snow or just clouds.

I am supposed to believe plenty of snow was forecasted yet they were showing what appeared to be bugger all sat night.

i agree and thought exactly the same when i watched the forecast on the BBC.  Are they clouds or snow?  Bring back the good old stick on symbols that what i say.......and while they're at it....Ian McCaskill too :)

It's really an amazing situation from the latest models, especially for the s / se where temps tomorrow are expected to reach 10 / 11c around 51f but then plunge to around freezing give or take a degree or so on sat / sun ..(like flipping a switch)..mon also looks cold, especially in the SE..and as for snow..❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄..I would expect disruption across parts of scotland tomorrow and then the southern half of the uk throughout the weekend with frequent snow showers and accumulations in bitter Ely winds..is this winter?..nope it's definitely spring!:cold::D

our weather patterns this winter, particularly with regards to the large fluctuations in temperatures on an almost daily basis seems very similar to those experienced in places like New York which frequently sees temperatures of 15c one day and then below freezing one or two days later.
