  1. I hope that chart above comes off but you can trust the charts that far ahead unfortunately. If its still showing on Friday night its possible but if it's still there on Saturday night then I'd give it 95% certainty. However I don't think it will come off although I will keep an eye on those charts.
  2. For snow events similar to wht you re talking about we would need quite a lot of odds stacked in our favour: 1) An area of High Pressure over either Scandinivia or Greenland. 2) High Dew points of round 1C or 2C which I'm not quite sure how we come by. 3) The right precipitation(again more experienced member might be able to help) 4) Very strong N'Ely would be useful. The 5th one isn't possible which is Austria's height and position in the Europen Climate. As much as I would love this kind of snowmaggedon event to happen in and it is possible. I'm sure a more experienced and value members contribituin will follow this and I will be waiting in anticipation for that.
  3. To the person who mentioned foot widely (1978) I think your being a little optimistic. But I wouldn't mind it.
  4. If we do have a wide scale snow event it will be during the school half term, depending on your opinion this is either excellent or terrible. I'm a bit of both, I love the snow and don't really mind when it falls but would also not mind the days off school the week after so if we could see Washington D.C scale snow there both guaranteed.
  5. Those showers are heading straight for me I'm just worried about the temperature could anybody tell me whether the temperature in Washington is right for me to see snow. I've got a good feeling about it but don't have a weather station to check. EDIT: Still got a clear sky now (9pm exactly) so might be waiting longer than 15 minutes. Anyway I wait in anticipation but looking at a 70/30 against snow imo.
  6. Some people here know that I'm probably snows biggest fan (behind Terminal Moraine reglaciations a tad too far) and was just wondering if there is even a remote chance of us getting any of this insane snow withing the next few months. That 38" is looking perfect, but too give me everything I want 5ft-10ft would be nice. Anyway I'm just getting the plane back from doo-da land and just want to know if we could get 20" this year? By the way I have considered moving to the states but unfortunately I'm only 14 and my mum doesn't approve.
  7. The chart below i the T+138 UK snow risk chart, I'm new to this so may have read it wrong but to me it looks great for snow lovers across most of the country.
  8. This is called Cold Spell Discussion and the feels like temps are -3 tommorow by my definitions, we need a rebellion to keep these open as the cold spell will be continuing, its got to be mod work reasoning as the national one is opening. Keep it open to 100 pages an make it easier for yourselves mods.
  9. I'll think you'll find that saying is you can't have to much of a good thing. I am strongly in favour of more. But want it to be really severe where from coast to coast is covered in more than 3ft of snow all over, it will be a nice test for the british infrastructure. Looking out the window and although we got a few mm covering last night we are now back to a few icy patches in the garden and the thaws taking hold. So I'm ready for a reload, but don't mind if its put off until the full countries thaws over. Possibly ten days time after a mild period.
  10. Well then I've got no chance here in Washington, might aswell just put the gloves back in the draw. The thing that has amazed me is the thawing difference, I used to live near my school(yes under eighteens use these forums, albiet not many) and kept the same school when i moved. Here the snow has gone and there's a few patches of ice in the garden but school is still laced with ice and freezing snow. Nit much has fallen but the thaws not as quick. Is this due to the temp difference or because the system was an easterly meaning the near coast areas get a hairdryer thaw whereas more inland areas get a slower thaw. If it is I'm buying a house in the pennines in ten years time.
  11. I am currently in a bit of a state with models, I have only just started looking at them and need a few things cleared up so I can understand them a bit: What is the difference between a 00zz and a12zz or 8zz chart? Am I right in thinking that darker colours mean colder weather? What do the different charts mean(sea level etc)? Is using netweather the best place to find the charts(be honest)?
  12. How high up do you live? It must be firly high seen as most other northern parts got a bit of sleety rain.
  13. Well this Sat-Mon was definitely an amazing thaw, I want the snow back and lots of it.
  14. Thats some data problem, doubt Newcastle was that cold at 7pm and can tell you Washington(near enough to Sunderland) was probably not near 5C. If it was it would have felt a lot warmer. I reckon both are slightly offthe 4.9 might of been right at midday but the -8C will be point blanc wrong, used to live in Newcastle(well Gateshead but still) only a few days ago.
  15. Thanks, I think you've gathered by that I haven't. New I recoignised it from geography. Take it he wants you all to freeze to death likeme then
  16. Heard of it but don't know enough about it? Explain its relevance please.
  17. This thread is a place to get away from the strains of realistic forecast and tells us what you wish you could forecast for Britain until March. Be as severe as you like at either end. My Ideals is as follows: A slight thaw between now and the end of Jan would be the start, followed by persistent heavy snow throughout February taking us to dumpings above ten feet across the whole of the UK. Ideally I'd want this to continue in March. Unfortunately the following floods probably wouldn't be worth it so a very slow thawing process lasting to late july early august would be needed. That's my ideal weather pattern from now to march but what's yours?
  18. I just want this snow to go and then a freak weather system to bring 10 or 11ft of lying snow, the drifts on that would be phenomenal. Anyway back to the real world and short term. Don't think I've got much chance of snow here in Washington.
