Then again it might just be a breezy day.

12z GFS maintaining a rather deep LP system as it moves north and east across northern parts of France during early morning to 12z Sunday. Looking like widespread severe gale force wind gusts across a good part of central and northern France- mean wind speeds into the mid 40s to low 50s, so gusts of 65-75mph look probable across this region. For the U.K, a very wet and windy Sunday best sums it up.
During early morning on Sunday, I would say winds will be quite strong, coming from a ENE direction, touching gale force along the south coast and across parts of the far south-east. Winds will then veer north to north-westerly during the day and here we could see gale force gusts of 45-55mph in these areas. Main risk, however, will be the persistent, heavy rainfall across southern parts of England, moreso than the wind strength. Again the GFS shows the Low to exit north-east France by 12z Sunday across the southern North sea.
The Low at 00z and 12z Sunday
We have had Gale Force Winds here today with gusts of over 50mph, so Sundays low pressure system won't be noticed in these parts.

In the last few minutes we just had gusts of wind here on the cliffs of just over 50mph. Just a breeze for these parts, but still makes a change from the calm conditions we have had for the past couple of weeks.

Who's going to be the first to say that this could be a _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?

Or some are saving themselves for when winter returns next week!
I will add that I define Spring in this region as sunshine and showers with temps around 15C. Nothing in the model output suggests this for the next 2 weeks.
I hadn't realised winter was returning next week. Is it the "Beast From The East" again?
-
The lack of interest in here is a sure sign that Spring is on its way.
-
GFS 12z seems to downgrade more with the system less potent and further south east.
That's great news.

Best quote of the day from the Netweather Forum, "snow risk fanaticism."

Finally it will be getting warmer from Wednesday. I've had enough of cold and damp.
Nice to see my forecast was correct. Almost feels like daffodil time is approaching.

I was at Loughton in Essex all day today, it snowed for over 5 hours but thankfully not one flake settled so a reasonably easy trip home tonight.
-
According to you it's been spring like for a couple of weeks now?
For a 'Researcher in Biological Thermodynamics' (If there is such a thing) Like your profession, I do find your posts rather odd.

Fascinating checking the Met Office Invent Rainfall radar thingy http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/invent/weathermap/
Half an hour ago it was predicting that my neck of the woods would be under this snow/rain system until about 9pm tonight as it was heading in a ENE direction. But now it has decided to throw the whole thing directly East so with any luck we should be nice and dry in about 2 hours.

Because I haven't had any snow this year I was wondering if I could be allowed to measure the depth of water on my driveway as if it was snow? It has been snowing heavily here now for a couple of hours but when it lands it just tops up the increasing water reservoir that is my drive.

Rain here. No ignore that it's now snowing. Raining again. Interesting.

As I said, It WAS funny, I did laugh and search for your posts, but it has become tedious now, being funning is all about timing and knowing when to stop before your audience gets bored.
The job you do does not define your social intelligence............
So, see you in these threads in Spring. I too look forward to what our british weather will throw at us when we returns to the mild SW's, but at the moment, we on here, are all looking forward to the next few days of intresting wintry weather.
Bye
I make you right, the floor is all yours.

It was funny, posting mild wishings and no snow reports on various regional threads, but seriously..
GET A LIFE !!
This is a regional discussion ' COLD SPELL DISCUSSION' within the 'WINTER DISCUSSION' thread of the Forum.
Keep posting if you want to continue to look like an idiot...... I double dare ya !!
I'm a researcher in Biological Thermodynamics so I wouldn't count myself as an idiot, but I do have one personality defect and that is I don't take myself too seriously.

I'm certain it's going to snow here later, I just saw a seagull carrying a shovel.

Managed to break down in the car at Herringfleet, absolutely freezing, took nearly two hours for breakdown to be obtained and rescued, luckily a farmer took pity on us and took us to the farm to give us some coffee, and it started to snow although it had been sleeting/raining heavily so it didnt stick.now overcast here but dry.
Sorry to hear about your car trouble. Here's a photo I took of the Mill at Herringfleet last year.

I hope everyone in the 3 Counties & East Anglia survived the atrocious snow conditions we have just experienced.
-
Seems unbelievable but we now have heavy snow. Not sure it will settle on top of 2 inches of rain water.

Only love
Can make it rain
The way the beach is kissed by the sea
Only love

Like the sweat of lovers
Laying in the fields.

I have fought my way through the imaginary snow drifts and have finally made it home. I've looked again at the forum and the only interest is in Snow. So I'm now going to bed in a house in a town in the UK that in the winter of 2010 has had almost no snow, and is very likely to see even less snow in the next few weeks. Do I sound bitter and twisted? Yes. Do I think this winter was memorable? No. Do I think this forum concentrates on snow too much? Make your own minds up.
