  1. Model Moods Update: Early this morning everyone a little down. A couple of hours later happy and excited. Tonight back down and bickering.

Edit: With just 3 days to go before this "severe cold spell" supposed to be appearing according to the models, we still have no idea what the weather in reality is going to be like. In my humble opinion these models do not work. Get new models, or just give up trying to predict the weather. Seagulls still standing on Lowestoft beach.

New Edit: The Mods are now shouting to try to take back control. If nothing else it's more interesting than Eastenders.

  2. Personally I think the excellent model runs continue this morning. I admit early next week isn't looking as wintry but lets be honest after recent model runs are we really assuming the models have early next week correct. Despite all of this you could say the medium range has upgraded as I suggested last night.

    The positives today are.

    1. Models definitely bringing the colder air in earlier.

As a complete novice at this model watching could you explain your last post to me. You state above that we shouldn't assume the models have got it correct for early next week, but then you post a chart for Monday next week stating that Models definitely bringing the colder air in earlier.

  3. Yep and parts of the Mids too.

Snow showers right from Sunday morn until well into FI land.

Many, many inches of snow for E parts if it verified. Especially near the coasts, right from Scotland down to Kent.

Temps struggling to get above freezing for most. Especially with any snow cover.

What a corker of a run.

I'm driving up from Suffolk to Newcastle and back on Sunday, the Met Office forecast cloudy and 5c, and you're forecasting snow. What to do?

  4. This is a weather forum, if cold lovers can't get excited here, where do you propose they go. Unless you own the site, either like it or lump it.

Why is it you can't find something else to do with your time, but wind people up, or have a dig at people in general.

I'm beginning to get the distinct impression you don't like me.

Back to the moods; Still good this morning if a little less excited.

  5. I'm playing in a cup match this Sunday so thankfully it looks like being much warmer than of late. Another benefit to warmer temperatures is I might be able to put the van away and get the RX7 out to play with. Great car, but totally s--t at gripping the road even in the dry let alone with a bit of frost.

  6. If it's such a waste of time why bother using the thread? i'm sure your positive thoughts will be very encouraging to everyone who takes the time out to study the models and post!!! Perhaps if you studied the models and took some time to understand the complexities you might cut out the sniping remarks!

I'm beginning to wonder if the problem isn't the complexities of the models but the lack of complexity in the mind of the viewer of the complex models. Are you still following this?

I deal with biological thermodynamics and that can be tricky to understand with an open mind, but impossible to comprehend with a biased mind.

Edited to say; The more you read the post the clearer the problem gets. "Negative Posts" are ones that indicate mild, or average weather patterns. "Positive Posts" indicate cold, very cold, or anything extreme. Do you see the problem?

  7. I have just read through tonights posts on the 'Model Output Discussion' and have finally reached the conclusion that they haven't got a clue what the weather is going to be like tomorrow let alone in 10 days time. It's a complete waste of time, but strangely still fun to read.

  8. I now I ahouldn't be saying this and I know some will moan at me for ramping. However if the +216 verified members such as Steve M, Tamara would be snowed in!

Hello Mr. Eye In The Sky. I haven't got a clue about all this weather modelling, but I do like to watch you all getting excited, and then depressed it's great fun. Would you be so kind as to tell me if that +216 number above means 9 days from now? If it does could you tell me what percentage of these charts at that timescale actually produce the weather conditions they have predicted?

  9. A lot more energy undercutting the block to the east on this run giving the high to

the east a lot more support and better orientation.

I have been following your forecasts for the last 13 days and just like the poor souls in the Light Brigade I'm still willing to ride with you into the valley of death.

8th February you said for the beast, and I'm still with you right to the end.

  10. I was wondering if we could have a thread called "Warm Spell Discussion" just to keep a balance. I played football this morning on a frozen pitch covered in snow, for some reason our park pitch doesn't have under soil heating. Don't want to sound like a weakling but the sooner it warms up the better for me, sliding tackles on a rock hard pitch are a nightmare.

  11. Here is hoping the moderators start taking a firmer action on posters like you, who seem to offer so little of interest.

I was playing football against someone like you this morning, they were always running to the ref trying to get one of our players sent off. I really hate players like that.
