However IN AT LEAST HALF OF THE UK IT HAS.
Glad you agree.

Expecting MORE snow tonight and next week. WHAT A STUNNING WINTER
See I think this post could be used to highlight some of the problems that are presently being argued over in the Model Output Discussion regarding the north v south debate, or the biased reading of the models to suit where a particular individual is residing.
Buxton Codge has stated above "WHAT A STUNNING WINTER." In my opinion this statement should be followed with, IN MY AREA.
Because IN MY AREA it has not been a STUNNING WINTER.

When it is finally over, whenever that may be, I'm sure we'll be talking about Winter 09/10 for many years to come.
You might, but I don't think many people will where I live.

It really does amaze me how quickly peoples perceptions of cold change when it's been cold for a few months;
"It is presently a pleasant 5c here. Lovely sunshine with a gentle westerly breeze. Still waiting for some weather that fits the Cold Spell Discussion."
Wow and that's coming from London. I wonder how many times 5c was exceeded in the winters 2006-2008?
Another day another dollar. You were quoting me with the "It is presently a pleasant 5c here. Lovely sunshine with a gentle westerly breeze. Still waiting for some weather that fits the Cold Spell Discussion."
Just thought I should point out I'm not from London.
While I'm here, a beautiful clear sunny morning here in Gunton, the North Sea is like a mill pond.

The end of another 12 hour day at the coal face. I think the game is finally up for the extreme winter weather "Beast From The East" brigade. Now heading home through the snow free streets to my house that hasn't been snowed under. Oh well there is always the next model run.

Snowing outside
I should hope so, inside and it can get nasty.

I would take this NAE chart for Sunday now!

Backed up by the FAX chart for that aswell:

528 DAM line runs right through the centre of our region....
If I was you Snowman I would seriously consider changing my name to Rain Man, and I mean that in the nicest possible way, not in the film of the same name way.

Reading the Model Output Discussion today there appears to be a hint of desperation creeping into the posts from the cold and snowy brigade.

Lots of rain for next week, proper British weather. That's more like it.

As this has been my first winter on the Netweather Forum I thought I would give my amateur assessment of what this winter has been like for my own area. The most exciting aspect of it has been reading the Model Output Discussion thread where almost everyday someone is talking about extreme weather arriving in the near future. Terms like Severe, Snowfest, Snowmageddon, UK Will Freeze Over, Beast From The East etc has kept my interest going for the whole time I've been here.
Sadly the reality has been somewhat different for my area. We have had a couple of days when it snowed, and a few days when it felt cold. That's it. So without the Model Output people my winter would have been ordinary, so I would like to thank the Netweather model experts for making it a little bit more interesting.

Just arrived at work and it's a real spring wonderland here. Wet, with lots of green grass.

My last post tonight, finally finished work so beer time. I would just like to say how well the Met Office did in predicting this weather today. They got my area pretty well perfect. Slightly underestimated the temperature but only by 1c. Well done the Met. Temp here now 5.1c and still chucking it down. Goodnight.
-
Yep its quite interesting really to be honest, you can see the milder air thats quite close to the backend of the front, so whilst those that are under the front have had snow and temps close to 0C all day, those further south who have cleared the southerly portion of the front are in the air thats rather too mild for any falling snow, the thermal gradient certainly is there for all to see!
The good news for those that have had rain recently is the eastern part of the front has strengthened somewhat in the last hour, so keep an eye on this, hopefully this trend continues which gives some people who have had a letdown.
You can't get any further east in the UK than me and incredibly the temperature is still rising it's now 5c and the rain is still hammering down.
-
Barbeque on gunton cliff, 8pm tonight, all invited.
Thinking the same thing myself Jenny, can't believe how mild it is tonight. At least I can have the windows open to listen to the rain.
-
Temperature still rising, now 4.5c. Still heavy snow disguised as rain.
-
Temperature 4c and still rising here. The snow is falling disguised as rain.
-
LOL my rain is still settling, nicely too I may add, especially on the flat roof of my garage. Dp's beginning to fall now, had a high of 2.5c earlier and its down to 2c, maybe just maybe it will get cold enough but even then the ppn would need to shift eastwards and i'm not sure how the low is meant to track.
My rain is settling really well on my new block paving driveway, I had a feeling at the time I shouldn't let the local gypsies do the work.
-
Temperature rising and rain getting heavier. Still settling.
-
Rain is the new snow
-
If you're into rain this is the place to be, it's settling as well.
-
The Met Office state that in my area it will start raining at 1500 hours today and keep raining until 1800 hours tomorrow. Quite glad I have a boat.
-
Very light drizzle here, all in all not a bad day.
-
Beautiful Sunny skys here..... Really is feeling spring like.
Even everyone at work is in a better mood.
Its true what they say about blue sky and sunshine lifting everyones spirit
Have to agree with you there, it's a brighter and much happier office today.

End of another 12 hour shift. Been a bit busy today so I've only had time to dip into the forum for a few minutes. Looks like some heavy rain for my non wintry town tomorrow and Monday. Having a quick read through the Model Output Discussion and the Regional threads it seems that this weather forum is now solely interested in snow, where it will fall, and how heavy. This area of the Great British Isles has no place in such a forum, we feel like 2nd Class Train Travellers at a Conservative Party Conference, not welcome.
