  1. Hi Nimbilus, Well, I'm not sure if I would be a valid member, as today in Croydon (my place of work) we had a couple of rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning - nothing major, a feeble showing but nonetheless it would exclude me from this club!! So which part of North Surrey do you hail from? BZ
  2. Will I ever get some kind of storm this year?! PLEASE - JUST ONE!!! Then I had an idea...... In my boredom at the total lack of atmospheric activity, I have constructed new lyrics to a famous advert, which ties in with Summer, Ice Cream and Storms (or lack of, as is the case is at the moment!!) - how sad am I....... hahahaha Sing to the "Just One Cornetto" theme::lol: "Just one thunderstorm Give it to me It's so annoying I want to scream Now I so want to see A massive thunderstorm That lasts one week!" Wishful thinking!!
  3. Hi guys, I have a Canon 350D, which I've owned for around 4 years. It came with a kit lens of 18-55 mm but I haven't added to the lens collection as yet. I still love the camera, but there are many great DSLR's that have entered the market that are far superior - for example, a much larger LCD screen to review shots straight after shooting. I've just ordered a Panasonic Lumix DMC-F2 for compact convenience - I'm hoping that will serve me well. Purchasing at under £100 wasn't a bad move either. There are so many great shots in the galleries! Look forward to picking up some tips from you more experienced photgraphers out there (well in time for the start of my Storm Chase USA 2011 tour!)
  4. Hi everyone, I have booked a week's holiday with a good friend to Estonia, and have conveniently arranged my return for Fri 13th August, so that I can make the much-awaited barbecue!! I think he's fed up with me banging on about it! Just wondering, is there room for another tent? While I'm here, is there any other gear I would need (apart from a sleeping bag, rollmat, torch etc)? Also, just wondering if anyone is driving from the London/Surrey area (to car share with) - if not I will drive up in my little Polo
  5. Hi everyone, this is my first post after using this site for over a year. I live in Sutton, Surrey and work in Croydon. I'm very passionate about the weather and I like this site so much because of the knowledge that is shared around the forum. This winter has surpassed my expectations so far. However, we cannot customise the weather that comes our way. I want to learn from others and ignore the negative comments when the models do not come up trumps with a "beast from the east" for example. I am an amateur of course, but I can see the cold lasting for at least a week with the risk of snow for my area. Glad to be on board with you all.
