Just so the Embra folks don't feel like they are alone, NE Fife and Dundee are largely missing out and have been for the last 6 hours or so.... we feel your pain! :D

    Hawsey

Perth and I expect slightly west of here (Crieff and Comrie) too!

Fingers crossed though, and I'm 'slightly' happier now as someone said something about more tonight and tomorrow... so, still 'in progress'!

I will. Relative to conditions elsewhere, relative to the hype, relative to the forecast, and relative to 2010 or even 2013, locally this is an underperformer. We only need the sun to come out most of the day now to attack what we have to complete my morning grumpiness.

You're not alone... just been out to take measurements, and a grand total of 2.5 cm / 1 inch!  We've actually had more than this  during this winter already, believe it or not!

The one redeeming factor in my eyes is the type of snow.. it's lovely and really starting to blow around a lot. 'If' and its a big IF we get a decent fall later it will be absolute chaos... so, the jury is still out, but certainly in the 'letdown' category so far!

Certainly not begrudging those with better snow ;) but when Broughty Ferry has more... well... :)

ooooh yes no complaints from Perth this morning..... looking rather tasty id guess around 8-9 cm. here before the warning starts

fair play to @LomondSnowstormand others who called it very well last night

toys firmly in the pram and hopefully more gettimg put in it

I was woken up at 6 by a text saying the work is shut! Looked out the window and hard to judge in the dark but there is certainly something.... Will go and take a depth reading in a hour or so, but until then just enjoying the reports on here!

There's just been a bit too much of a northerly component this evening for you folks. I wouldn't be too worried though - the temperature's absolutely perfect (-3C) and once the wind direction shifts due east the showers will be streaming down the Tay direct to your house I'm sure:D

    LSS

Excellent :) Get your shovel ready Edo.... if its heading for you, hopefully I'll see it too! :)

I wouldn't worry too much - there's a lot of time still left in this and anything that falls now will lie readily. It's maybe been a bit too northerly for Perth to get very lucky just yet but we're running the full spectrum of easterly angles over the next few days so I'm sure you'll get your fill!

Looks like a couple of inches here with another shower incoming.

    Cheers LS :)

I've lurked on this forum since before 2010 and don't generally post a huge amount, but very nice to see you and your expert wisdom back just in time for the cold spell!

Unless someone tells me otherwise there is no reason for it to split....not like there are hills or anything between the north sea and us.....I will not relax till I see first decent fall though......

    Edo

That goes for me too! I'm not sure if it will be tomorrow or Wednesday, but I wish it would hurry up so I can stop worrying about not seeing anything :)

im getting a small bit of fear.... nearly every precip chart i look at has a gap at us..... ive been so confident too

    last minute wobbles

dont panic @TinyTimits just ive promised everyone snow and feeling the pressure :D

    Edo

Too late!! Panic already started... I've obviously been watching the same forecasts, as pretty much all of them have the precipitation 'somehow' splitting when it reaches us!!

Hoping it's stage fright and pre-show nerves :)

Fingers crossed again, but if It goes pear-shaped, at least I called it lol

First reminder today for all of us (not that we needed reminding from previous easterly spells). That is, never mind what the BBC or MetOffice forecast says will happen anywhere locally, radar and nowcasting wins every time :D

    Paul

Thank you :)  I need the optimism I'm afraid... we've had a few lonely flakes here and the pessimist in me is still expecting it to somehow go a little wrong (i.e a couple of cms!) But... got to keep the faith!  Good luck to everyone and may you all be digging yourselves out with a shovel at the end of the week!

:rolleyes:correct Tim that and the actual charts in front of us and the whole lack of marginality.... everything is in our favour for once..... theres always a chance the heaviest of showers always miss us and you get a bit of a let down but that seems unlikely or of course that convectivity is less than we anticipate which is also unlikely.....

    Edo

Brilliant :) I hope that you, and everyone else gets our deepest snowiest desires satisfied this week, and if not, oh well :)

Assuming it does snow, I'm planning on taking my camera with me everywhere... my one regret about the 2010 spell is that I didn't take any pictures, so not making that mistake again!

i Think you could be right there. im expecting at least some amber warnings but i have got an other question i see how the met office has a level 3 cold warning for all of england but not for scotland is there a reason why is that? complete newbie here lol

    Michael

I 'think' its because that warning system only covers England, but I don't think there is a Scottish equivalent.

    Tim

  11. Well...

Just seen the latest BBC forecast and NOT impressed.... No snow til midweek!!  Knowing my luck, they will be spot on, but I really really worry when their forecast goes against the impression I get from in here and the models etc.

Not trying to be a drag, just a little nervous that somehow, someway it might go the way of the pear (at least locally) ;)

Hi folks! I’ve been reading through the comments on the Models thread and trying to understand them ?‍♀️ but it all seems to focus on Southern England?! Surely it’s not just down there that’s getting all the fun? Do I need to dust of my snow shovel?

In short, yes, I really hope so!!  How much is another matter... but if we don't see anything, well...

I've got my fingers crossed that too much might be the problem rather than too little, but we'll see ;)
