  1. I'm not a great fan of night-time storms, actually, especially if they're very close.  I enjoy them during the hours of daylight, but I'm not totally comfortable with them at night.

I love storms as long as they do not surprise me when I am asleep, there is nothing worse then being jolted out of bed by an explosion of sound caused by a close lightning strike!I still get a bit nervous at night when I see lightning, I think it stems from when I was younger I used to be petrified of storms, it was really bad. Even the slightest mention of storms and I would be nervous, I used to be scared of the song Think Twice by Celine Dion because there was a line saying there will be a storm tonight. Me being a child didn't realize that the two didn't have any correlation. I was born in the 90's and we all know how the 90's where for storms.

  2. I chased a storm on the 27th June 2009 around the Luton area. It could be that I have the date slightly out and it was the same storm you talk about. This storm produced pea sized hail and torrential rain with some great CGS's too not far from Luton Airport, and it was very slow moving so lasted quite a while.

Definatley one of those days, I think the storm lasted a good 3/4 hours though, we got some good hail also. The lightning was awesome, I have a very low quality video of it somewhere I may upload it at some point.I wouldn't mind storm chasing around Europe for a few days this summer, I don't think it would be too expensive for one or two days.

  3. June 28th 2009 was a great storm an I don't remember getting a storm in 2005 but I seem to recall August 2006 more? Can anyone shed some light?Yesterday was ok for my area some mean looking skies and even a couple claps of thunder, I didn't hear anything at about 7 even though I was at the back door watching the rain pour down.I have a good feeling about this year as there have been way more storm reports than I can remember from this time of year. I think a big factor this year was the mild winter weather, the water surrounding the UK didn't have a chance to cool as much as it normally would and is running at or just above average. I hope this helps with surfaced based storms.

  4. Anyone seen that stuff coming out of the Netherlands right now?? Looks quite tasty!Live cam of Amsterdam if the storms reach up there!http://www.earthcam.com/world/netherlands/amsterdam/Just rain here today but the smell in the air tonight is making it so much more bearable, it smells like spring!EDIT: Closest camera I could find to the approaching storms was is The Hague, NL. its a traffic cam but its good quality.http://webcam.prvgld.nl/n348c.html
