  2. Personally, so far I've found the new format more user friendly and it seems to load more quickly (on my netbook anyway). I like it alot
  3. Hey Guys, I've just noticed Craig & Paul H are due to arrive a couple of hours before me and Paul S. Is it worth making sure we have mobile numbers so we can keep in touch? Or is this sorted ? @Craig , I think I may have yours already. C
  4. h Hi , Sorry if the info was wrong but I was told this when I asked a former colleague about connecting flights in the US. Either way DFW is probably one of the better airports and as you say there are later connections
  5. Hi Paul, if you miss the connection through delays outside of your control AA should arrange for you to catch the next connecting flight but it may be worth letting the Air Attendant know if the flight is running late. Regarding Immigration, I suspect you will get off and walk through to connecting flights so you may do that bit at Phoenix. Also your bags will probably be sent straight though to your internal flight, so at least that's one less thing to think about!! Either way DFW is easy to navigate and there is a sky train that runs around the airport, You also have the added advantage of Craig being there who should be reasonabiliy familiar as this is the airport we use on the stormchase tours My experience is that US airports are generally well oiled machines so don't think you would have too much to worry about See you soon, Claire Ta
  6. Hi Craig , do you have a link to Susan's thread ? The hot temperatures seem to dominate most of the monsoon chatter I've read, followed by the dust storms or they are full of excitement over the monsoon season bringing wet storms rather than just dry lightening . Hopefully AZ is just being kind and saving the best for us
  7. Hey Paul, It''s certainly going to be an interesting week with the increased threat level on the Cleveland Volcano in Alaska as well but the show should be worth it
  8. ...AZ... ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS SHOULD PERSIST FOR ANOTHER FEW HOURS ACROSS THIS REGION...AMIDST PRE-STORM SFC TEMPS UPPER 90S TO LOW 100S F AND DEW POINTS 50S OVER LOWER ELEVATIONS. 00Z TUS RAOB AND MODIFIED MODEL SOUNDINGS EACH INDICATE POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED STG-SVR GUSTS WITH MOST INTENSE DOWNDRAFTS...GIVEN DEEP/WELL-MIXED SUB CLOUD LAYERS AND POTENTIAL FOR EVAPORATIVE COOLING/ACCELERATION ON STORM SCALE In summary : Toasty with lots of flashes and bangs
  9. I knew I'd forgotten something...I'll be sticking close to you !! Re the lightening , I like those odds !
  10. Hi Paul, I'm not sure what your normal chase gear is, but in addition to mine, I'm taking some loose light clothing rather than fleeces, hiking boots and a swimming costume () in addition to having a leg wax (more applicable to the Girlies!!) I'm not bothering with camelbaks etc
  11. Flying Scorpions, Tarantula Hawk Wasps , all manner of spiders ...........sorted http://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazing-3-Layer-Zapper-Electric-Mosquito/dp/B003JUD6V8/ref=pd_sim_lp_6
  12. Er......not if I have my way ..I'll be in the nearby Spa

  14. Looks like the majority concensus is 3 weeks to go
  15. I am , technically It's 3 weeks and few hours....but who's counting
  16. I did think this but then remembered the Dongles No Big deal if I can't sort one, but I always love a gadget !
  17. Will call Paul M on Monday to sort out but really interested in swapping T3 for T5 (pretty please ) It then starts getting complicated !!
  18. Thanks ...The main issue I'm finding is most of these are from US sites , so I'm starting to think time is getting tight for delivery and we may have to pay import duty (although I think this rule may only apply to lenses and camera bodies)
  19. If you guys find a good site for triggers, could you please ping me with the details? so far I've found out how to make one otherwise I may need to make a pit stop to New York !
  20. Hi Paul 1. I've found with the bulb settings or long exposures it still possible to get good lightening shots even at my novice level, although with trigger you're less reliant on luck to get a good shot 2. I used a UV filter for the 1st time this year and noticed a real difference so would recommend one of these as it also protects the lens against dust, dirt etc. In the daytime I also had a polarising filter as it gave the clouds better definition, but you need to take this off for night shots This is as much info I can give....
