Been sat staring South for a while, watching the tide coming in. Look behind me and there's a massive CB to the North, over Ipswich. Summer's back!
there some light to moderate showers around east anglia, but no massive CBs ATM

The journal of meteorology has an article about the severe thunderstorms that occured during june 1960,a family member told me about the scarey storms during this period, i enquired to torro about any info on these storms and after jonathan webb looked into it ,the article was put into the jounal of meteorology

:smiliz23: only 8 thunder days here during 2010, even that low figure is more than some places had, im hoping for some decent plume events or a few good night time storms this year
-
sferics in noth norfolk earlier, thats a great CB pic Plastikman:good:
-
just a moderate shower here as the line of showers in suffolk and west norfolk came through, turbulent loking cloud base though ,and gusty wind up to 27mph
-
yes i was just having a look at the line of showers to the s.w. of the original feature, its heading my way, small chance of a rumble mixed in lol
-
24mm overnight here, the line of convection is a bit messy ATM, nice to get sun and showers though...
-
shallow convection looks about it for east anglia ATM... ,currently under an inversion with fake mamma type strato-cumuls the convection here has gone crazy!! in the last 5mins ,huge towers must be pushing 42,000 ft

parts of scotland seem to of had more thunder than south east england this year , i saw a funnel cloud in the cairngormes yrs ago when on holiday ,it freaked me out .,,thought our motor-home was going to fly over a mountain :o
-
i can see distant anvil tops to the west, no storms today but nice cumulus to watch, thats a good pic of the A1 loco, it came through my area in may so i took video of it leaving Burry st edmunds:D

i remember some of the storms in september that Gavin P mentioned, sept 18th 92 is one i wont forget! . A few distant flashes just after midnight, then around 4am an intense storm tracked from the s.s.e. lightning was frequent every 3-5 seconds, with alot of cgs at my location,:bomb:i remember being quite scared by this storm.... at foulness island in essex large hail fell and killed an estimated 2000 wild birds, a few stones were measured at 45mm diameter ,with most around 25mm

heavy showers are possible tmrw in the south east,or maybe just an area of moderate rain, looks to be the only chance of thunder this week
-
with a high to the west feeding a north westerly over the british isles, thunder is unlikely ,maybe a chance tmrw for the south east tho..
-
with sunny calm conditions it would of been a land devil,i remember a report of similar mayhem at royal Ascot a few years ago, seems that land devils can be quite powerfull, with localised winds upto maybe 60-70mph!
