yep noticed that actually got a phone with earphones and a features length deep space nine episode to try to drown out anything that might occur but that app changes every hour or so and sometimes to something completely different
DS9 wouldn't help much, one pause in speech and you will hear the thunder if it happens at the same time.
Best try Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon!!
Or Thunderclap Newman, 'Something in the Air'

It would appear that Belgium doesn't want to share its storm here, maybe due to pending Brexit?
It's all gone a bit quiet, perhaps we will get some ammo imported for tomorrow, but for now it's time for bed!!!!!!

Yeah, from Blackpool can only see the back of the cell.
I think a side view may have been better.
Much better than I can offer! All I have here in Essex is Blue skies!

You might just have one there. Not the best angle but for sure shows convection and upward motion!

I would love to see some pileus clouds if anyone manages to capture one. I've not seen one in years!!

Does anyone have an insight as to if that storm in Belgium will make it across the channel this evening?

Could still be a nice light show over the channel though. If only the fog would do one
I think that is very unlikely. The 4 distinct storms exiting France and Belgium have decayed by more than 50% in the last hour.
Moving from over land to sea has killed the potential energy they're able to harvest and it's in my opinion a dead duck from here on!!

going to be to at least 2230 before it hits land
It's certainly dragging its heels.
I've been watching it since 16:00, it's slowly tracked North but seems to be back building taking advantage of surface heating.
I would be surprised it it makes it across the channel, and the latest sferic S/E of Eastbourne is probably a glitch!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2635167#extra-uk-content bbc predictions show it will be blown west when it meets the coast, it'll only skim the UK South coast, hope they are wrong!
I took a look outside and the few clouds here are going East to West. No chance of the French storms making landfall in the S/E UK.
Seen it all before, no Kent clipper, No Thames streamer so time for bed children!!!
-
Almost constant thunder from the storm here earlier as it tracks N/Easterly, I wouldn't be surprised if it merges with the one further up.

The storm here is a real cracker, not much thunder but massive amounts of pea sized hail and the road's already flooded in just a few minutes.
-
Thunder down here just now, leaden skies and hardly any wind to speak of.
-
Afternoon all, it would seem there's a bit of backbuilding going on.
Down here in Essex the sky has become very convective in the last hour, before then it was clear!
Massive towers are popping up all around but noticeably more to the North of my location.
-
Meanwhile in Essex it's blazing hot, clear skies, a light breeze and not much else to talk about. Except maybe my beer could be colder!!
-
Rotherham and Doncaster getting blitzed right now, their current cell is stealing all the limelight. zoomed in on it and it's tracking at 40+ strikes pm
Over 60+ strikes, it's gone nuts!!

Indeed, let's enjoy some sangria whilst watching West Country folks' and northerners' party unfold
Could have got a few bottles of San Miguel, suppose I will have to do with Carlsberg. Nicely hot here still and with a cooling breeze. Good luck to those getting or expecting storms this evening

what am i missing just looks like a cloud too me
The upward acceleration of the convective cloud pushes the moisture ahead of it forming a 'cap' Similar to the vortices you see from F1 cars rear wings under humid conditions.

is there any more thunder tonight? It is so humid and I hate this stickiness.
I think the main event is over for tonight. Just leave a window open and let any rain noise lull you to sleep

Storm approaching The Hague in Holland has the locals running for cover. Visible strikes on webcam!!

Edit to add: In the time it took to post it has gone beserk!!

and it is so still
Same here, I've had my South facing kitchen door open since 1pm and not a single drop of rain has touched the floor!!
-
i wont be able to sleep knowing it may happen, im that scared, only at night tho.
I wouldn't worry so much. The storms are elevated and the lightning I have seen is all Intracloud (IC) This means it is more commonly known as sheet lightning, the most benign type. If it was a convective type storm with Fork lightning (CG) then it would be a concern.
Enjoy the light show if it arrives but don't worry unnecessarily
