Shane, honestly, don't write this one off yet. Telford still looks to be in a good position. Assess it again at around 10-11am and see what kind of snowfall you have by then. I would expect at least 5cm for Telford, by the time this is over

I am hoping you are right Andy, it just looks like the band is fizzing out right over us. My lad just wants to build a snowman ⛄

The ultimate jinx! When I got up the band was headed straight for me, multiple snow symbols on the met app, so I thought it was safe to tell my daughter...now it's somehow not snowing! Just hoping to get something when it pivots round now.

My son saw the weather yesterday and got all excited, I told him the weather man is talking out his bum, when you wake up in the morning there will be no snow. Guess what.... lol!! Don't like been a pessimist but better that him waking up to this thinking we was going to get snow. Hate been right!

Surprised to wake up and see a sprinkling of snow on the ground after all that frustration last night, only a cm or so but it's full cover. Looking at the radar it seems to be that band to the SSE of the clump over Wales that did it. And it was just in time for 9am so 2021 at least will not be a year without snow lying!

More tonight? Not being greedy but the M6 corridor owes us at least another 2 or 3 snowfalls

I must live in the only place in Shropshire that has not seen snow! Madness! Roll on summer and the grey clouds! Yawn!

Shawbury last 24 hours weather including temperature, wind, visibility, humidity and atmospheric pressure

1-2C with light rain, drizzle and mist for hours and hours on end, even after how cold it was last night, even with the wind direction changing from SW-SE-N-NNW, when even the lightest stuff is falling as snow at lower elevations 40-50 miles away, with lower temps and dewpoints there in the same air mass. This is what Shropshire gets, its nowhere near the coast either. What on earth can it be that makes this sort of thing happen so often?

Feel your pain, 7 miles down the road in Madeley they had a dusting of snow, yet here in Hadley nothing just cold rain!  I though I was pretty elevated as well....

The weather type radar, you can literally draw the borders of Shropshire based on where the blue is. So many weather maps you can do that; Shropshire shaped holes in the radar in thunder setups, Shropshire shaped clouds on the satellite in settled summer weather, Shropshire shaped colours on temperature maps (lower in summer hot spells, warmer in winter if any precipitation is around, colder in winter when its bone dry). It happens so often....

Agree 100% there must be something geographic that causes it! It does happen time and time again. I is not that we are just unlucky. The clouds in summer you could bet you house on, clear skies in 90% of the uk, then this grey stubborn muck slap bang over Shropshire!

passed through in about 15-20 mins, but some close strikes and really loud thunder. A total direct hit for Shrewsbury, seems to be degrading slightly on radar as it moves north to be honest....

    Great show though!

Heard the thunder from it, did not see any lightning. My eldest was pretty upset, only 7 and he wanted to see lightning I have given him the thunderstorm bug lol!!

  7. Well I am still here, never really left! I have got to the point that I think the last real thunderstorm I can remember was 3 years ago! This past few days I have seen some of the heaviest rain ever, it flooded my garage. But there was no thunder. Then Monday there were storms over Newport way I could hear the thunder from but saw no lightning. Yesterday was the worst. Got so excited hearing deep booms and checked the lighting maps site, constant lighting. Then the weather gods went nah you ain't having that and the storms took a more northerly direction! So yes I have heard distant thunder but nothing within 10 miles. Gutted.
