  1. Original screenshot from this morning unedited We`ll after enhancement, im now confident that the russia photo contains faint NLC`s. There are bands with sharp edges and an undulating wave structure which can be seen when zooming in The camera`s located at 63°E, so using the transit theory these NLC`s should be over 8°W around midnight tonight So yes I`m expecting some faint sighting early doors tonight maybe which only visible with a camera
  2. The reason the tungsten white balance was mentioned. That is the WB setting I found it to be the 'sweet spot setting' with a light pollution filter fitted, especially how faint (brightness 1) they have appeared over the last couple of seasons. Post editing comprises of local contrast via Photoscape for enhancement (which i added to this mornings Starvisor Irbit no.2 photo from Russia) Tonight's forecast is for clear skies and with the clouds daily clockwise transit of 72° these clouds should be over the Ireland, West of Scotland longitude 8°W Heads up and happy hunting Edit; latest indications from Oswin and Maarsy are encouraging
  3. maybe just maybe from Russia i recognize the White balance to be set @tungsten
  4. A stronger cell approaching Brum from the NE around the Rugeley area may be of interest
  5. A small amount of convection to the NE of Brum caught in our local CZ.. Not really expecting anything today despite the BBC midday weather forecast
  6. They have been sighted towards the end of May in recent years, so were close I expect that the first we will know is via social media, although I'm finding myself beginning to have a cheeky look at the webcams : Just in case Cheers Jamie Looks like the ingredient are starting to collect in the Mesosphere
  7. Just to clarify one of the links in my earlier post. The 4 day out from Quebec seems to be confusing and does not take you diectly to the cam if you go to the site via the link, click on any cam link when the page comes up there are a list of other cams at the bottom of the page where the relavent cams can be found The Two cams are Neuville › North Aéroport › North-West: JeanLesageIntl These are not live but updated images
  8. A little more overthinking and searching on the subject of how to forecast Noctilucent clouds without the use of the Aim satellite daisy Using the fact that the clouds trans-navigate the Artic circle every 5 days in a clockwise direction, which equates to 72° Longitude every day So we could expect to see NCL`s over the UK axis( prime meridian), if they are seen the night before at a longitude of 72°E and 2 nights before at a longitude of 144°E, 3 nights before at a longitude of 144°W, 4 nights before at a longitude of 72°W Using all of the links which you supplied i have found a few North facing web cams, on or around these Longitudes, which may help us. My idea about a Japanese cams did not come to fruition None of the cams on the North island of Japan were pointing Northwards So there are a couple of webcams in Russia (which are at a more favourable Latitude than Japan to view NCL`s) 1 Day out at 72°E camera from starvisor ru Link; https://starvisor.ru/nur/ which is located at 76°E 2 days out at 144°E Camera from Geocam.ru link; https://www.geocam.ru/en/online/lensk-webcam/ at 115°E or https://www.geocam.ru/en/online/kamchatka-volcanoes/ at 158°E ( still looking for one in between these camera`s) 3 days out at 144°W Camera from explore.org link; https://explore.org/livecams/zen-den/aurora-cam at 147°W 4 days out at 72°W camera from metroblue.com link; https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/webcams/quebec_canada_6325494 or https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/webcams/quebec_canada_6325494 both at 71°W I am sure that we will be using the local European webcams for 'Now' forecasting, however it`s still nice to have a couple of days notice of any events feel free to add to any webcams on these longitudes. I hope this image below helps explain
  9. Maybe us old farts have DNA memories of a similar dictator
  10. Yes Bob just started over-thinking the subject with my ethics I would prefer to
  11. The closest i`ve come to finding out anything out on Google is this article Dreamily glowing noctilucent clouds provide a clue to elucidate the mechanism of global warming | Meiji.net:Meiji University ENGLISH-MEIJI.NET Are you familiar with the phenomenon of noctilucent clouds? It refers to a type of cloud formation that exists at an altitude of approximately 85 km i ... to which they do not seem to be a big deal in Japan If no other relevant information can be found then I intend to send an e-mail to prof SUZUKI Hidehiko apparently Brummie and Japanese are a similar language
  12. Thanks for all the replies I`m looking through the relevant information as we type I`m trying to find the Japanese site`s because if there spotted from there, then 2 day`s later the same clouds would be located over the UK axis hope that makes sense
  13. Still early days yet to kick off a new season thread although the newest post from here caught my attention https://www.facebook.com/groups/nlcaroundtheworld Not NLC`s for me Anyway with the high possibility of no AIM daisy`s to aid us in some kind of forecasting I have been trying to find a Japanese/ Korean NCL forum site (see the reason in the above post) I`ve only been searching Google, but to no avail I don`t tweet - so was wondering if peoples who do, can search is a tweet search even a thing
  14. Looking at the current wind profiles there seems to be an excess of CZ`s around the country today, Including MBY Hit an miss today plenty of early convection going up Edit ; And a nice lowering to my N
  15. According to Blitzortung it produced a spark Still some strong convection around these parts lovely straight edge of updraft to a cell just leaving Brum to the E Edit; Looks to be producing Hail over to the NE now
  16. Great view of the cells building in Southampton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1P9v9bEtuk
  17. Nice cells beginning to develop to my N, Cannock way Edit cell heading towards Wolvo to my NW
  18. We`ve got clearing skies here with the radar to our West pepping up already Convection is starting around Brum, so hold out for some afternoon delight for your area Good luck
  19. yes as long as were right on the edge of any MET warning One more from today
  20. Hopefully with all the commercial satellites being launched some of their exhaust contamination particles may produce that dust It would be nice of NASA to update the blogs concerning the AIM satellite - it`s been a long 2 weeks looks like we could be relying on the the Russian websites for any forecasting .. or hopefully a Japanese forum site (if we can find one?) At least the 5 day transit around the pole is a constant The numbers in red represent days out
  21. worth a shot but the atmosphere has lost its Ooommph until the next one
  22. just noticed these babies incoming might tempt another test stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ6bVrVsAik Edited 1st stream 13 .20 to around 13 .40 for sporadic lightning
