Well first lunchtime bike ride for over a week, snow and ice kept me off two wheels last week. Still blowing, WSW force 6-7 once out of the village, and although 8c the wind made it feel cold, coupled with frequent blustery showers. Time ran out due to head winds, so only managed 8 miles. Its one of those days where the downhill bits into the wind were slower than the same bits uphill in the opposite direction. A quick look round the village and no major damage, a bit of a garage is blowing in the wind a few doors away, I saw pile of metaL that was a deceased TV aerial, and a fence leaning at a drunken angle, but as I said earlier we didnt get the worst of it here.

Yes wild, but we didn't get the worst of it here, even although we lost power around the same time as @Wold Topper. SW is not the worst direction locally, Storm Barbet, easterly, was far worse here. Even a few miles up the coast Filey got a battering. Bridlington was gusting 59mph just before midnight, I suspect we had a few mph more due to elevation. Will have a look outside when its light, but only obvious casualty is a 'for sale board' opposite, nowhere to be seen now.

Snow showers now at the coast arfter the earlier graupel and rain, not quite cold enough to settle, but whipped by a strong NW wind its certainly quite unpleasant out. Here forecast for tomorrow morning is more showers, could be quite tricky, but given wind direction they are not getting far inland.

No rain today so far, in spite of 90% cloud cover. Fields and roads starting to dry out now, the chalk Wolds drain and dry quickly once the rain stops. A cold NE wind, force 5-6 made lunchtime bike ride quite a slog. Temps 3c, unchanged all day. A few breaks in the cloud, but generally dull. Too warm for snow here. The gaps in the clouds showed some nice crepuscular rays at lunchtime

Another dry day here so far, and one or two of the large 'ponds' are showing signs of reducing. Hopefully the dry spell will continue, but forecast is showing more rain overnight with an easterly setting in by the morning. Lunchtime brought SW winds force 3-4, temps at 8c and long sunny intervals, although its clouded over a bit now

Not raining today, a plus. Winds light, W force 1-2 at lunchtime, and cloudy. Temps 8c. The water from this wet spell has left numerous spots inundated, field furrows are full of water and every ride out brings more mud back on clothes and bike. Here is one new 'pond', there is often standing water at this point, but never on this scale. Bear in mind we are on the chalk here, which tends to drain very quickly with very little or no open water under normal conditions.

Yes, yellow warning area northwards extent is about right you are about 20 miles further south, and although we've had a wet day I doubt we have had 25mm

Am I right in thinking that the Amber wind warning area on the MetO warning is too far North? Looking at the rain warning they seem to have that about right, we are right at the northern edge of the heaviest rain, its been a wet day but not excessive, but reports from just south of here indicate some significant accumulations. Impacts here are related to the fact that the last 3 months have been wet, just surface water.

Well another miserable day on the Yorkshire Coast, yesterday was obviously a blip. Heavy overnight rain cleared but by mid morning we had persistent light rain which has got heavier. A lowering cloud base means its now misty here. At least its not windy (yet). Fields look even wetter than on my last ride. First day out on my bike this year, Winds very light, Force 1-2 SSE, all over grey with mist on the higher bits, light to medium rain, I got well wet. Temps 8c but feels colder with the rain and damp. This is the view looking towards the Wold Valley taken from near Grindale Airfield.

An absolutely horrible day at the East Coast (again), blowing a gale and heavy rain. Plenty of surface water flooding. We really could do with a dry spell, and the incessant gales mean that I can't get on with a couple of outside jobs that need doing. Unfortunately yesterday was the one fine day, but we had to go out.
