  1. No thunder or hail here so far. The thaw has set in but by no means finished. There's still a little bit of laying snow left here!
  2. Yes, I thought it would be a long shot. Just wondered if there was anything that could modify timings and conditions.. straw clutching, but I've never witnessed it, so..
  3. We've retained the remaining laying snow all day in our neighbourhood. Conditions look exactly like yesterday. Ice still on the road (side road) and cars crunching along it. Hoping for a little more snow tomorrow before the thaw.
  4. Very slushy/wet pavements will become treacherous if we have a hard freeze. Splendidly, we have kept quite a bit of the snow; on roofs, cars that haven't moved, shrubs and to some extent, the pavements. I know Mr M has warned us not to look at forecast radar but I can't help it, as showers of snow/sleet/freezing rain for my vicinity are predicted within the next few hours. We'll see. Cold is the wind.
  5. Wind picking up. We've a good inch or so covering on roads and paths with about 4 inches on cars, fences. Trees and bushes holding an inch or so and I've just noticed some telegraph wires looking white and a little saggy.. Yep, everything looks plastered
  6. Trees are becoming laden with sticky snow. Snow lumps falling on cars in wind gusts. Air temp is 0.01C. Ground temp still a lot higher I'd imagine.
  7. More of the sleet is forecast to turn to snow. The circulation centre gradually moves Eastward. Not sure if I'm allowed to post this (mods, delete if necessary). Current forecast snow (in red) for 4.50am. Sleet is gray. Courtesy Meteogroup Raintoday Premium.
  8. We're under the precip. for a good few hours yet. Roads should be fine if the snow has stopped. The freeze comes during Weds afternoon/evening I think.
  9. Its actually quite thrilling. I'm usually stuck to radar during IMBY snow events, waiting for a morsel, a weeny shower - anything. And we get two dollops from two events.
  10. Well, well well. A contrast to the last snow event: Four hours continuous falling snow was required to enable settling on top of wet ground. Even though the ground is completely water-saturated, the snow (quite wet snow though) is settling! Radar says sleet. As I'd not held up much hope, am completely surprised by the conditions just now. Snowing moderately at the moment with a Northerly component to the wind/breeze.
  11. Exactly. I'm North of the M4 and am promised sleet. Not excited... its snowing on Snowshill though
  12. Snow showers coming off the North Sea making inroads... Possibly maybe.
  13. Come on SW England, we have to beat Wales. sennybridge already down to -8C. Lots of lovely low dew points about too. An aside; every car that drives down my road sounds like a tonne of gravel is being unloaded. It's the sound of cracking slush.
  14. Well, my 'window dangler' read -15C in 2010... one degree off Pershore (official station) that reported -16C. We can get that cold, and we have a snow field.. we shall see.
