We're currently down in Snowdonia, stomped up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) yesterday, left really early to avoid the hoards but it was still far busier than most Scottish hills and nigh on impossible to find a private place for an emergency wee. Had to brazen it out behind a boulder that could only be seen by half of Wales as opposed to all of it. Snowdonia is nice, but so far seems less wild than Scotland (so not as good) and obviously not as big. Warmer too as no snow to be seen on any of the hills.

Absolutely, And one reason I stopped going after years of mountaineering there, it's just not the same especially since Covid. At least in the Highlands I know places where to realy get away from it all. Even so, most these places that used to be remote seem to be not the same and multimedia has driven folk there for photos and selfies/likes. Glad I've been about and experienced places beforehand. Theres still a few wild places left the best being the Rough Bounds.. I would call it the last wilderness in the UK. takes some effort though over 2/3 days heavy walking but highly worth it.. No phone signal, no paths and untouched it realy is a special place for now at least.. Have lived in Strontian at a young age and still visit from time to time glad it's off the NC500..

PM ..Your massive gardens as such are so much bigger than my mother’s garden I’m sure, but I’ve got the annual spring mowing duties coming this weekend that comes every year…still 80 yards by 30 yards to contend with will be knackering for me 🙄

Thank God i don’t deal with or have grass pollen issues 🫣

But I’m not moaning as the SUN is out and getting stronger 🤗☀️🤗☀️🤗

My gardens aren't massive, But I've land/sheep with dry stone walls that needed gapping which is more work than my garden/veg patch. It's all exercise and this weather is perfect for it. As I said it's all exercise.. you've got to look at it all positively otherwise nothing would/will get done 👍

I fully understand that, and I can see your resentment.

I’m from London, but I would be mindful if I were to relocate to a smaller village or town. Respect the local community, and also take an interest in local life.

The trouble with us townies are, we are very closed off, and very territorial.

I think the lack of space in London, does affect a persons mindset, and when or if they move further out they actually have a hard time adjusting to the space around them, but also feel like they are the centre of the universe.

Nobody cares about wonkers who come from London, and I’m embarrassed for those idiots who give people like myself a bad name.

Absolutely agree, But for the record I don't call folk from London wonkers.. But I know where your coming from and well put re- centre of the universe! And your certainly not in that category going on understanding.. Have a good evening and let's hope for a good spring/summer and good health! ☺️

I don’t know if I could handle open countryside on my own. I like it, but not used to living in an environment with a small population, especially for a long period of time.

It's not been easy through the years and its a different way of life 'being so called behind in times but I dont regret it.. It's been brilliant! But  properties are being brought up by folk with pots of money that have no respect for families that have lives here for generations that can't afford to live here any more..I will leave it there.. live and let live they say ☺️

Wearing a t shirt in this weather is just plain weird lol.

So it all went downhill in 2002?

It did here, But remember we here have always been well behind lol.

when you have lived where I do with hundreds of acres of open land in the Peak Park in a Nature Reserve yes times have changed a bit recently ☺️

I'd love to live in Bakewell. Much better than this overcrowded litter strewn crime infested city. Getting sick of hearing about stabbings and people getting shot nearby. Unfortunately due to family constraints I'm stuck here. In the future though I'm going to leave. I'm actually thinking of somewhere in the Peaks for a quieter life!

Hi, I can understand. I'm a very solitude type and have always been used to the countryside and live in the middle of know where worked and lived here all my life, apart from living up in Strontian (Highlands when  young on and off..so to me a few walkers and cars make a big difference, never used to be like this though. But as you say I can completely understand where your coming from. At least you can see through the wood from from the the tree's.. Many can't!

I was schooled in my younger years in Bakewell and it's nothing like it used to be!

Times used to be so close knit with families here in the villages, much different now since the past 15/20yr..

Anyway must not grumble, it's been a wonderful Spring day😊

  7. Glorious Spring day here, Been clearing the garden and digging the veg patch over and weeding, Apart from all the tourist being out and about and the local van sites filling up.. As usual during holiday periods I don't go anywhere and only run the dogs in the fields, Much busier here since Covid, Glad I don't live in Bakewell!

Sadly I missed it all even though I was popping my eye out the window here and there, if I went further north to the airport I may have caught something, but my interest was the Tornadoes in the USA during those hours, maybe next time, great shots and vids you all caught.

Edit:I believe the KP index was at 7.6?

Yes touching 8.. missed it myself by probebly 30 minuets after stopping up and to calling it a night, was to tired ☺️

Its looking fairly quiet on the graphs for tonight which is probably a good thing as the weather is forecast to be dire for many, the predicted energy of last night's CME impact isn't going to be as strong (a max of only KP6 is expected some-time over the next 24hr) compared to the main KP9 event anyway. Had the weather and graphs looked more favourable i'd be eyeing up the darker-skies around Stanage Edge, Snake Pass, or the Goyt for this evening.

Yep, Not much chance here, unless kp7 or above. We are heading into Solar Max so last night shouldn't be the last hopefully 😊

Forget about the 'Airglow' 🤪 I'd gotten a heads-up that the Aurora was seen from Yorkshire a little before midnight, after another quick run on-to the nearby field I finally got it 😄 the main event only lasted a few minutes at 0:15am'ish but there was still the green-glow seen all the way to 0:45am.

Great shot I see it got put on Buxton Weather 👍
