  1. I hope some on here take the time to read your post Tamara, instead of franticly chasing every detail and run for snow. It's the 11th Jan, not even half way through winter and if some understood just how strong the Jet Stream has been over past month or 2 then nothing really comes as a surprise, but with further SSW model'd and an ever weakening Vortex leading to a meandering Jet and the continent cooling, we are now in a far better position for something more seasonal than we have been all winter. Patience.
  2. My point still stands S.I We can not make assumptions based on the weather we have had or having, as we have seen in years gone by things can change dramatically, not that we need it to, as we have plenty of winter left yet yet !
  3. Really..? To be honest nobody has a clue what the 2nd half of Jan has to offer, never mind Feb which is traditionally the coldest winter month in the UK. We are not even half way through winter yet, plenty of time left yet and who knows what March will bring ? just look at last year for example, things can change very fast.
  4. Yes a very messy picture, I think it's safe to say the models are as confused as us past +144 h. No point looking at detail beyond.
  5. A blustery morning with mod/heavy showers blowing through on an 18mph N/W wind. Gusting 26mph Temp 1.8c Dp 1.3c Wind Chill -1.4c Rain today 2.8mm
  6. A blustery morning with mod/heavy showers blowing through on an 18mph N/W wind. Temp 1.8c Dp 1.3c Wind Chill -1.4c
  7. A very clear night at times with a ground frost, odd patchy cloud this morning and a lovely orange sunrise. Temp 1.3c Dp 1.1c Wind Chill -0.8c S/W 9mp Gusting 27mph
  8. CME IMPACT: As predicted, a CME hit Earth's magnetic field on Jan. 9th. The impact was weaker than expected and failed to produce widespread geomagnetic storms. Nevertheless, some beautiful auroras have appeared around the Arctic Circle. GROWING QUIET: Giant sunspot AR1944 has not unleashed a significant flare in more than 48 hours. The growing quiet, however, could be the calm between storms. AR1944 has an unstable 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class flares. http://www.spaceweather.com/
  9. A dull blustery morning here gusting 43mph with the odd sharp shower blowing through.. Temp 2.3c Dp 2c Wind Chill -1.2c N/W 21mph
  10. Reading Lorenzo's update in the stratt thread, the Polar Vortex looks like it's going to get another rattle soon which is good news.
  11. The theme is still there, and still many small details will change so i would't get to hung up on them, especially past D5.
  12. Yes Kayo, history tells us this time and time again, A very complex subject including lag times, the degree of activity, and also the fact that the sun has been very quite over the last few years for saying that we are at the peak Solar Cycle 24. What i will say is, is that any immediate activity will have no effect on our weather.
  13. It's sunspot 1944 that produced the CME Keith that is 7 times the size of Earth....
  14. Well, just to see that evolution showing get's me exited, never mind the detail
  15. Yes some of the biggest drifts i have seen for years and years here, very unexpected... was snowed in for 5 days and drifts up to the bedroom windows. Pretty amazing and a Month i will never forget, i just wish all months were like that !
  16. I find it amazing how fast some can post a new chart in the mod thread, if they were any faster they'd be posting it before it's out.. Some fantastic charts again, hopefully the detail will become a little clearer by the weekend.
  17. Great program, will be watching tonight for sure. We need more of this on t.v to get the kids interested.
  18. Absolutely SS, No point in comparing detail atm, as so much can happen in such a small space of time as we have seen overnight.
