  1. 4 inches + under the main snow band roads are no go, nearly blocked, very windy - drifitng. Had 4 inches within 2 hours. Never seen anything like it?!
  2. If as latest GFS charts most of East Anglia (inc me) will be seeing thick snow by tomorrow morning. Its very much similar to a lake effect snow situation out there. If your under that stream then its gonna be an interesting night! The last time this situation occured was back in 2003, and I saw 5 inches of snow from that. Expect very localised totals though. Matt
  3. Sleet shower at 8am (ish) this morning with snow flakes mixed in. Feels like its getting colder - tonight if the stream of lake effect snow showers off the north sea is as predicted I could well be waking up to 4inches Matt
  4. Nothing majorly damaging or serious today here in Cambridgeshire, an average Autumn storm. Forcast changed since yesterday and storm less serious than made out. Max wind gust here around 45mph. Perfect weather for tornado's today - will be interesting to see/hear any reports. Not a serious storm however - expect calming from now onwards. The usual media hype has taken place
  5. had hail and very frequent thunder through-out the morning and still thundering as I speak, got a feeling still got more storms to come yet. Very nice!!
  6. Passing t-storm here atm but if only I could get out and do some funnel cloud/tornado spotting... I have the feeling today will be a perfect set-up. Already witnessed 2x funnel clouds this year local to me. Tornado's seem to favour the cooler more fluent set-up like today, which has occured quite a few times this year.
  7. Dark with thunder in Peterborough. I reckon perfect set-up for tornado's today so keep your eyes open. One or two very likely somewhere. Looking good for some meaty storms this afternoon
  8. Large tornado or funnel over East Cambridgeshire - Swavesey area onlooking from the A14 dual carriageway. I think many more managed to catch a glimpse at this, was one of the best tornado set-up and formations i'v seen in the UK, strong wall cloud rolling along beside a large storm. Absolutely took my breath away, I was keeping an eye on it in the first place and the funnel just dropped with alot of movement/twisting. Very thick dark coloured funnel. Tried videoing but yet again my phone let me down in saving as it did two weeks ago when I spotted another funnel cloud in this area from a storm. Best year I can remember for funnel clouds in this area, amazing
  9. To confirm, I saw a large funnel forming today (added a report for another funnel in this area about 2 weeks ago) from a superb wall cloud around the Swavesey area in Cambridgeshire, one of the best tornado/funnel formations i'v seen in the UK, was hard to tell whether it made it to the ground or not. Looked typical of your American set up - thunderstorm was rolling West with long wall cloud on its tail. Absolutely superb, best storm formation i'v seen here. Tried getting a video but yet again phone let me down in saving. Not long after a report came through on radio from someone else of a tornado trying to form, most probably the same one as I watched
  10. Same thing happened here today, clouds all over the place, at one point I thought the storm once passed was coming back again as it started to rain and the clouds were heading in the opposite direction! :s Never seen anything like that before either. Was a very big storm. Check BBC website out for large hail over parts of Norfolk. I spotted a funnel cloud too earlier when it passed here, very nearly got to the ground. Long and white, would have been powerful. Very intense formation
  11. Was out monitoring development of an intense storm over here (Cambridgeshire area), drove through a thin line and then turned around back through it, got ahead of it and spotted a large roped white funnel developing just in front of it very quickly. Lasted only 2 minutes, looked very powerful but didn't quite make it to the ground. In the rush of things the video I took didn't save!!!! But just had extreme rain and frequent lightning to follow. Very big storm - those in its wake watch out for funnels/tornados
  12. Frequent lightning for a time here in Cambridgeshire, storm has just past, very sporadic bursts of rain. Very humid. Wind quite moderate
  13. Had to turn back from work this morning as work in Peterborough - started off in Burwell but with only 2cm here, got to Huntingdon and it was more like 4-5 inches and still falling with the A14 blocked off and snow everywhere.
  14. Currently have sleety snow, very small flakes - tells me that the air is slightly milder out there. Not settling well
  15. Pure sleet here in Cambridgeshire, horrible. I have doubts about any more snow - it seems a tad warmer. Still - I had 4 inches of snow this morning so i'm happy!
  16. Think iv seen my fair share now, precip seems to be heading a bit further south to me (possibly slight veer more to a NE wind) but had over an inch of snow and a good covering
  17. Throwing it down again - added another 3cm to my original 2cm, over an inch now !!!!!
  18. Getting on and off snow showers - had a couple of really heavy falls. Probably about 2cm approx, everything under blanket of snow
  19. A few light flurries just now in Longstanton, Near Cambridge. The situation has been very over-hyped and alot will be left dissapointed this afternoon south of Derbeyshire
  20. Very valid point, the showers north of Isle of Weight are interesting, although charts are not usually that far out at this period I still beleive the focus will remain in the Eastern side of the UK.
  21. Dam it, wish there was some money in my account, maybe I could increase my overdraft just a tiny bit.... lol Wow thats a massive electrical storm over nw france now
  22. If that were true every member on this message board would be paying up by now lol net-weather mods would be rich
  23. Tomorrow is gonna be an interesting day for the East! Not often you get rain like that predicted for this area on such a large scale
  24. Some organised activity going on up there, grouped together into a clump of showers/storms. Certainly wasn't predicted - only moderate showers were. The conditions have been right up there, they havn't got all the cloud holding temps down.
