Yeah, ok. I see the wind is gusting well into damaging for this time of year but here it's a bit breezy but not even windy and not even anywhere near damaging yet!
I was dodging some decent sized branches etc on my drive this morning. As ever it depends on location, when I left Leeds it was breezy and wet, other side of the penines it is much windier, not horrific but strong enough to bringing some fair size branches off and make the car move around enough to slow you down.

Can see that looking south from leeds too.

The other half just rang me from Yarmouth and sounded quite nervy - sounds nasty down there.

Visiting family in
Doncaster and the heavens have been open a while now. Only slight rumbles but very dark and torrential rain.
Hopefully some heads leeds way later today.

Working in Ashton today, looks like I'm in for an interesting drive back to Leeds in half an hour or so. Very ominous skies moving that direction too.

Can see them from here aswell looking pretty large.Towers booming up to east of sheffield can see them literally exploding upwards....

Stunning cloudscapes out of the office window here in Normanton West Yorks. Some real instability up in those clouds right now.

You say that, but the police just tweeted the helicopter has returned to base due to lightning risk.Thunder or not there's some heavy rain incoming!Dare i say it. GAME OVER......

It looks to be towering quite quickly to my south east at last. Let's see how that develops.

I have an exam this morning so I'm gonna be entirely selfish and hope it holds off for the 3 and a half hours.
Afternoon is fine though. Be just my luck to be off work for exams yet be stuck inside missing out!

And as that shower moves away it has just emitted it's first rumble of thunder near Leeds.

Something is just building over me. Be interesting to see if it builds as it moves north. A few very large drops is col it managed here but it appeared to build from nowhere.

Wind has shot up, Yorkshire winning the cricket and it's got pretty dark. Looks to me it'll pass south of here but quite a quick change. Wakefield probably in line for it I expect.
Edit big flash to the south of Leeds. It has built quickly.

Not much to these but despite the skies clearing somewhat a big bright flash and deep rumble stemmed from just south east of Leeds.

Trip to Anglesey update 2Just got onto A55, driving torrential rain. Wind notably stronger but nothing significant yet. Rain this heavy though for an extended time will cause flooding. Already considering back up plans if we get stuck on Anglesey.No warning sings on main roads about weather conditions as yet.Driving conditions already terrible in the spray. 20 miles to Rhyl.
Stay safe. All the Matrix signs coming out of Leeds this morning were showing "Strong winds forecast today". I expect a fair few road closures in this area (west/south Yorkshire) as ever today.

Assumption is that would be the meeting point for mobilisation and then head out I guess?

I don't know if a storm can do that...
Anyway, I'm just waiting for this storm to be destroyed by the nearby Sheffield shield.
The distant lightning seems fairly active from here, dead to my south West ish, looks pretty at least!

Some stunning CG's over Sbad wordhorpe way, seems to be dying down now though that way, eyes to the south but not seen much. Amazing how that cell came from nothing to decent size so quickly. Thunder's quiet so fairly elevated in nature I guess.

The light dusting we had is nearly completely gone now pretty wet but not too snowy at all.

MOre snow again now after the ice pellets. I'm sure someone more advanced that myself can explain why it keeps changing.

Possible funnel from the back of that cell just passing over Doncaster, its to my SW, almost over Edenthorpe, but has broken up virtually straight away.
One or two have tried right over me in edenthorpe, very interesting. Seems to have lost electrical activity.

Right over us now shotgun very close lightning just now seems to be building on its back edge.

That heavy shower that just passed through doncaster had rotation with the updrafts. Nearly formed a funnel cloud!
Definitely, right over the top of us we spotted rotation and an attempt to try and form something on its leading edge. Now passing thunder as the main cell passes over.

Had a torrential storm here in Doncaster. Lots of flash flooding and as dark as night. Not a pleasant drive but very potent cell.
