  1. Enjoying the big freeze of 1963 on bbc 2. I hope everyone sees some more snow overnight and during the coming days. Still very frustrating for my location but at least I'm enjoying the seasonal conditions and occasional snow flurries. It seems like there could be another easterly after Monday's event but after that it's still uncertain about how long the cold spell will last for but I'm still hoping for heights over Greenland around February.
  2. I think it will snow on Monday but I bet it won't bring any accumilations with it. If that is to be the case roll on the breakdown.
  3. radar not looking good for Glasgow and the surrounding areas
  4. Same here. I think we need the wind to change to more of ENEly. If nothing changes then I'll give up on the easterly until Monday's event - even still that could end up to our east too.
  5. Terrible news and I hope that there aren't any fatalities. Have you got a link?
  6. What's the chances of us in the western end of the central belt joining in with the fun this evening.
  7. Sunshine here. Still no lying snow here so I'm relying on the wind finally turning to more an easterly with snow showers feeding through central belt and if that fails then it will all be up to Monday.
  8. Haha. Monday certainly will be interesting, I think it's destined to snow as I have my first prelim during the morning. I'm currently in Bearsden but I hope that band will move further west but I'm a bit worried that that the band isn't gaining as much precipitation off the coast of NE England.
  9. It really has been a pretty exceptional day across the British Isles - possibly the most significant and eventful day since 2010 and isn't nice to see the north sea snow machine up and running and delivering plenty of goods and excitement (and catcing the met office out as per usual). I suppose at this rate anything could happen during the next 48hrs.
  10. It seems like it's been a super event further east and has brought memories of 2010 with it. What is your thoughts about the snow overnight and during the weekend? Can Glasgow expect to see any lying snow?
  11. Unfortuantly it seems like we will end up having no lying snow. It's all up to how good the north sea convection is for the weekend and then after that Monday's event.
  12. Albeit the precipitation won't be as heavy as it was earlier in the east but this could get really interesting with precip in the firth of Clyde/South side of Glasgow and more precipitation to the east.
  13. I could be in luck. It looks like there is snow coming from south aswell as the east.
  14. BREAKING NEWS A Snow flake is visible on the Morar traffic cam And a blizzard at Glenfinnan
  15. Tonight should be the start of a very eventful period that should last to Monday. More convective snow showers through the weekend and Monday is looking very interesting. Some areas in the east could have pretty impressive snow depths. Hopefully satellite imagery will reveal sites such as these. Gavin said it would be impossible
  16. Snowing quite widely across Dumfries and Galloway and into some parts of Ayrshire.
  17. I find it amazing how that squall line had reached Kyle of Lochalsh! At this rate Skye and Mallaig will see snow.
  18. That's bad news. My aunt is meant to be coming back from Southampton at 10pm. Impressive looking raindar but I'm still hoping that does not all go pear shaped for the Glasgow area.
  19. Glad to hear all the snow reports and some fantastic pics! No snow here but a cold evening with a clear, starry sky. Still hoping for snow to make it through to Glasgow later.
  20. Looking very good along the north sea coast at the Borders. Funnily enough there isn't as much activity between Montrose and Peterhead. Perth seems to be doing well now and the showers have spread as far west as the western parts of highland perthshire. In the next while, I'm expecting much of Fife to do pretty while and possibly Edinburgh a bit later.
  21. Showers starting to push further west just to the north of the main area of snow affecting Yorkshire. You can see the snow showers making good progress into the Borders. Above is a map highlighting the zones at risk of snow showers judging from the latest radar - likely change. Black zone - VERY HIGH RISK of Convective Snow showers and highest risk of accumilations away from the sea Red zone - HIGH RISK of quite frequent, heavy snow showers and possibly some accumilations in places - especially on higher ground Orange zone - MODERATE RISK of some snow showers at times. Yellow zone - LOWER RISK but a chance of snow showers from time to time
  22. Beautiful winter's day but very cold in the wind which is now a bit lighter. No snow here but I'm hoping for a few snow showers at least during this weekend.
  23. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2635167 - Updated Friday night and Saturday - looking good!
