34c and a serious cap on down here in the melting south.. What a spell of weather one that will go down in history. But I'm still cautious on it going down in history for another reason aside the heat.. But we shull see what happens over night

Its getting way to much now!! Seems o be the way around here tho, a breeding ground for the immense heating and unfortunately not a lot of action as a reward :-/

At least your office has AC - I am in a large building designed with the lovely glass ceilings so essentially 3000 staff, with computers, inside a giant greenhouse. Grim. Our mercury thermometer says it is 35 degrees in here.

But I feel more sorry for those working outside in the sun!!

It also makes me sick I won't be seeing any storms to wave the heat goodbye. :(

Yuk!! Sounds a really nice place to be ...... not!

I gave up on heat many years ago. This type of weather always gave rise to field fires and I have to say, I dreaded field fires more than anything else! Due to appliances being burnt on previous occasions, we were not allowed to drive onto unburnt areas. So middle of the day, in this type of weather, full PPE including helmets and no hose-reels ...... our firefighting equipment was literally poles with old hose attached and the beating began! Way too hot!!!!

Though doing that job did show how destructive lightning can be. We attended quite a few lightning strikes but the one that I recall the most was a shout to a tree on fire in the middle of nowhere. When we booked in attendance, there was less than half a tree left, split about 5ft from the ground and on fire!!

Still praying for a storm tho :-)

  3. Not too much in London really. West London and far north London got a fair bit but most of Greater London missed the worst of it. Seems that Herts into Beds and Cambs and now into Norfolk has seen an absolute pummelling. So jealous!

Is that a supercell just north of Cambridge now, folks?

Yep, missed again in Bucks ....... I don't think anything will beat last July!

  4. From what i could see, i think we were rather sandwiched between the storms to my ENE over the W London areas and the edge of the Bournemouth storm travelling NNE. There was very little rain and not much in the way of thunder. There was a LOT of IC activity and some good looking CG. For this area, last night did not live up to last July (17th) which did get stuck overhead with amazing thunder and CG activity. Sounds like some areas got somewhat more action but I would be interested in the overall ratio of IC vs CG. Is that info available somewhere?

This area is a little odd. Storms and snow events quite often "split" W & E but when overhead can rattle around for a while. Probably something to do with the Chiltern Hills topography.

Anyway, this morning feels a lot more humid and warm than I was expecting ...... rain please :-)
