Very Autumnal this morning, overcast, quite windy and 13oC ....... beats scraping the windows :-)
-
Another to add to the cliche bucket, still lots to play for.
Listen, I'd love to see an almighty dumping of snow. Who knows if it will or won't! Although I fully respect those that have meteorological knowledge and put out forecasts, it is all based on models. Models are run by computers. We program computers and all they do is use extrapolation algorithms to produce charts for interpretation.
Now if we are honest, due to geographical location and land make ups, do we rarely see correct forecasts past a few days out.
I'm now a little tired of cliches and we will see changes in Nov, mid Dec, then Christmas and now the New Year. Sorry!

BBC News were reporting from Moscow ....... nothing!

Wasn't mid December touted as a point at which to see more "seasonal" conditions?
Sent on my Android tab on 18th December (which also shows 13oC @ 0708UTC)!

Patience is possibly the most overused word on Net Weather come the winter months, closely followed by that other little gem "potential".
Not forgetting "Just missed out" :-/

So far, winter 2013/14 vs. 2014/15 winners:
Snow: 2013/14
Frost: 2014/15
I love the snow when it first arrives and for a day or so ........ certainly not fussed with the slush/thaw!
-
Yep ...... now on this week!
The difference between 23oC at the weekend and a couple of nights of frost this week has done it for me.
-
I'm liking the observation ....... lovely dog btw
I'm hoping for the cold (and hopefully snow) for Dec/Jan and then sudden warming/spring in Feb :-D
My first post in this thread
i have noticed something different in the last few weeks to this time last year, and that is my dog(Alaskan malamute) has not shed a hair, where as last year i got bags full off him, that tells me winter is coming and maybe he senses it
here is my pooch

I did have it on the twice this week ...... firstly when the new thermostat system was installed and secondly when a couple of radiators were installed.
I'm thinking however that it may go on soon IF the temps get any lower but it seems as though it will remain pretty mild ...... an indication of our coming winter perhaps :-O

As soon as the clocks go back I long for March again, light evenings are lovely whatever the weather.

Not a chance ....... not yet anyway. It's been windows open for the whole of September but it sounds like I may have to "put them on the latch" this weekend
-
Windows open tonight again, sun was very warm today :-)
-
Models beyond 24-48hrs ....... meh!
My hopes are for moderate to heavy snow, sun and crisp days ........ no constant dreariness/mist and no repeat of last year thank you very much!

Very true. I'm glad some folks got something last night but there is no way it was anything like Thursday night. I'd like to see the stats for observed strikes.I think the Meto Orange warning killed any hopes of the super storms lolNot sure this event was a humdinger as carol k called it more than once. Cant comment on other areas but Thursday' nights storm was so much more impressive and that wasn't even forecasted for here !

Been at Farnborough today, wow was it hot sat near the runway all day!
The storms we had last night were awesome, probably the best I've ever seen and they were not really forecast. I'm hoping something kicks off again tonight, need to clear this air!
Might have to stay up for a while and see what develops, Rambo First Blood is on so a beer could be in order too ........ :-)

All I can say is wow, was woken up by torrential rain and severe thunderstorm. I don't honestly think I've see so much Lightning ever or as frequent!!
Quite surreal now, moon starting to show and distant forks/flashes and all burglar alarms now silent after power cuts.

If you have not seen it already - this is quite interesting from the BBC weather website on how the super typhoon 10 or so days ago has apparently caused this upcoming hot spell & potential associated storms here in the UK.
Thanks for that Chris, very interesting indeed

Honestly, never ever even entertain the idea of reading this POS.
If you even see it on display at a newsagents, set it on fire to save others.
As long as you chuck the Daily Express on the fire as well
