  1. Updated: 11:08 (UTC) on Sun 31 Jan 2021 Further details A band of rain, locally heavy in places, is likely to push slowly northeast across parts of the UK. As this rain comes into contact with cold air in place, it is likely to readily turn to snow away from eastern coastal districts. 1-4 cm of snow is quite likely away from eastern coasts, with 5-10 cm possible in places, most likely across southern Scotland and above 150 m over northern England. Potential for 20 cm or more across higher parts of the northern England and Scotland. As well as snow, a period of freezing rain is possible for parts of east Wales and the north Midlands. Should this occur widespread icy stretches would form. Snow should turn back to rain from the south, lasting longest across parts of northern England and Scotland.
  2. I thought that earlier we always seem to be chasing something good then when it gets nearer it either downgrades of the system never gets close enough it is a wild ride indeed this winter!
  3. Between this thread and mad thread no wonder people get confused! some say amazing charts, great for our area etc, then others down play it, hard to know if its all south south south in mad thread going by there locations it is! ... arghhhhhhhhhhhh

As this rain comes into contact with cold air in place, it is likely to readily turn to snow away from eastern coastal districts. 1-4 cm of snow is quite likely away from eastern coasts, with 5-10 cm possible above about 150 metres and up to 20 cm across higher parts of the northern Pennines and Southern Uplands. As well as snow, a period of freezing rain is possible for parts of east Wales and the north Midlands. Should this occur widespread icy stretches would form. Snow should turn back to rain from the south, lasting longest across parts of northern England, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland.
  6. certainly looks good, I'd be happy with what we had few weeks ago it snowed for about 12 hours it wasn't always heavy but what came down was fab but heavy snow all day I'd take that too
