    I've no data to back it up, but I remember February in the past was often the coldest month of the winter. The cold November/December thing isn't that common.

    I'm looking forward to the High pressure moving in tomorrow. Cool & settled for a few days. Far better than the Atlantic stream of rain & cloud of recent days. Weather in Weymouth is quite interesting at the moment though. Thunderstorm cracking & flashing its' way through the darkness. Steady rain falling. Flash alert..........make that HEAVY rain, in the last 2 minutes.

    Thanks egret a very informative reply! With current model outputs, I don't think we'll see snow either side of the ridgeway for a couple of weeks at least.

    Can anyone explain why, when snow comes in, the Weymouth/Portland area gets very little. It seems to either evaporate over Lyme bay, when its atlantic frontal snow, or fails to reach us from the east when more convective. Yet when it rains, like right now, we get as much as anyone else?
