  1. Geographically this met warning covers Greater Manchester but other than a few sheep who is it going to bother.
  2. Great to see so many folk have had some very good snow events and snow cover. For whatever reason in this little corner of the world it has been poor. It has been cold but out of 7 or 8 regional events we've got something out of 1 or 2 at best. Certainly not had more than 5mm of snow cover. It says something when this current tiny shower, which is giving a covering, is a highlight of the past 12 days or so. Hopefully see some more in the coming weeks.
  3. There seems to be renewed ooompf around Harrogate that could break the snow shield. If it can head a little more sw we could have an interesting afternoon.
  4. Get a feeling we are in a hole again. Easterlys are so hit and miss. VideoEditor_20210108_101945.mp4
  5. Maybe CS. Reports from north and west of Leeds are good. Be a nice final flourish to what has been a disappointing 10 days round these parts.
  6. Interesting looking finger of heavier precipitation making its way towards us from Leeds/York. Will it be rain, sleet or snow. Could be interesting. Looks like Dodge beat me to it.
  7. Can confirm this shower has produced snow here at 200m asl. Hopefully means anything that follows should do the same. Could be an interesting 24hrs or so.
  8. Can't remember bigger snowflakes. Doesn't come across great on the photo. At least it didn't miss us today .
  9. Yeah. One takes the right path and it dies before getting over here. Need a bit of luck.
  10. Yes this one looks a little different as the wind has a little more of a westerly to it. . Fingers crossed it follows a path like this.
  11. Agreed. This Fylde shower again seems to more organised to the SW and again will miss this part of the world. Hopefully we get something in the next 24 hrs as the easterly for next week is looking far from the holy grail.
  12. Somebody is going to get pasted in the next hour or so by those showers north of Blackpool. Getting quite developed now. Hoping they head a bit further east. Unfortunately they seem to die off once over the M6.
  13. Looks like the showers to the north are taking a more easterly track. Might be game on for us in east Lancs and north east GM with those currently over Morecambe Bay.
  14. This current Preston shower seems to be carrying a bit more weight on its northern side. Hopefully if it follows the track of the other showers it might take more of a swipe at north Manchester. Great to see these opportunities for snow in December.
  15. Absolutely zero from 3 different opportunities. Bit unlucky this NE quadrant of GM.
  16. Looks like heavier precipitation was the key today to help keep things cooler aloft and maintain snow. Had 45 mins of good snow but around 7.30 it got lighter and the rain took over. 200m asl sometimes doesn't help when relying on the air hundreds of metres above to play game. Any idea when the next round is?
  17. Hope you all keep your snow as long as possible as its 100% rain here now. Temp 0.3c so as mentioned can only think warmer air is above.
  18. Strange things going on here at 200m up. Very marginal as drops of rain are definitely hitting North facing windows. Hope its just a blip. Thought it would be snow all the way.
  19. Good start to the morning here. Settled on frozen ground easily. Temp down to -3 overnight and went up to 0.6 as the cloud came over. Now back down to freezing. Looks like another hour or so still to go.
  20. Second round of snow here to the north of Rochdale and judging by the way Knowl Moor to the NW of us is disappearing there's more to come. Nice to see the ground is cold enough still for it to settle immediately. Merry Xmas.
  21. Not a pleasant day but after 3 hours sizzle and an hour of moderate and heavy snow we are slowly turning white again. Yesterday's snowman hanging on.
  22. Couple of inches here. These showers are producing snow at the mo. No sign of melt yet.
  23. Just got to 9cm snow depth with the overnight showers. Can't see any more today but temps will drop like a stone later.
  24. 4 or 5cm so far. Not bad considering at 10 this morning it looked more like a washout than a whiteout. Bit more still to come looking at the radar.
