It looks like you can draw a line from the Ribble estuary to Manchester to split the chances tonight. South a great chance of snow. North nowt much at all. Good luck everyone.

The met really are downplaying Sunday's chances of snow up here. Their online video forecast for the weekend barely shows snow into the Midlands. Very much a dying, sliding feature for the SW. Looks a decent sunny winters day up here.

Still got reminants of Wednesday's night snow in the garden
Another example WH of lower levels of GM doing well. Here at 200m there is no snow at all and I'd have to walk about a mile north to find it at at least 300m and possibly 350m asl.

Heavy sleet, rain and some wet snow here. Shame conditions are not a little bit more favourable. Altitude could help today but the moors to the north are shrouded in cloud so can't comment. Hopefully less marginal by this time tomorrow.

Great evening for weather watching. 2 to 3 inches of snow after 40mm of rain. As others have mentioned, its the sort of quick change in weather you expect in such continental locations as N America. Not sure I can remember such an occasion in nearly 40 years of avidly staring at the skies.

No warnings for the snow as yet from the met office.
Yes, this I do not get. Didn't the met office post an Amber warning for 10 to 20mm of snow in the east Midlands and East Anglia last weekend? Perhaps they now we'll just deal with it.

Heavy snow here for last 30 mins settling everywhere but the road. It'll cover everything shortly though due to the intensity. Temp dropped to 0.5c now from 5.5c at 6pm.

Getting to more worrying levels of rain locally. 38.4mm yesterday but already 17mm here since midnight. Flood warnings on the River Roch through the town centre and in Littleborough. Hopefully river levels stay down as the last thing covid closed businesses need is the cost flooding brings. There's also a substation next to Rochdale 6th form college flooded in the Boxing Day floods that knocked out power to this side of town for 36 hours. Don't need that right now.

Definitely the heaviest rain of the day at the moment. 29mm since midnight but 3.5mm in the last half hour. Not hugely wet but if this continues there will be some flooding in those places prone to it.

Well I'm confident we've more snow than at any weve point so far this winter. Can't be mithered getting a tape measure out but I reckon we've got the grand total of 15mm on cars/wheelie bins etc. If it keeps up we might scrape the magic 2cm

Slowly but surely the splodge of raindrop on the window is being replaced by the tinkle of ice. Even if this changes to full on snow the ground is so wet I can't see it sticking.

Just changed from rain to sleet here, but keeps alternating at moment -shouldn't be long now hopefully.
Yeah temp dropped 0.5c in the last 30 mins to 1c. Its on the change slowly ??

Regardless of whether it turns to snow or not this week is becoming a very wet one. 20mm on Monday, 13.6mm yesterday and already nearly 12mm so far today. With what is forecast we could get to 80mm by the end of the weekend ??

Great to see so many folk have had some very good snow events and snow cover. For whatever reason in this little corner of the world it has been poor. It has been cold but out of 7 or 8 regional events we've got something out of 1 or 2 at best. Certainly not had more than 5mm of snow cover. It says something when this current tiny shower, which is giving a covering, is a highlight of the past 12 days or so. Hopefully see some more in the coming weeks.

Yea, it currently keeps alternating between very fine and moderate , hope a bit more of the bulk makes it through
There seems to be renewed ooompf around Harrogate that could break the snow shield. If it can head a little more sw we could have an interesting afternoon.

Get a feeling we are in a hole again. Easterlys are so hit and miss.

Wonder if this is what the BBC forecast this morning was hinting at.

Maybe CS. Reports from north and west of Leeds are good. Be a nice final flourish to what has been a disappointing 10 days round these parts.
