  1. Looking like a grim day is on the cards today. Can't help but think that if it had been 5 or 6c colder this band wouldn't stand a chance of getting here. There's snow way it would have got to our region, it'd die on is way through the Midlands and the infamous rain shadow would suck the life from what was left 🤪.

Just the few miles of Rooley Moor between us and drier than a camels backside here, such is the frustrating nature of showers.

For the moment at least, it’s turning into a repeat of last Saturday here with the shower streams running to my north and south and bone dry across the middle bit and the radar is currently showing little change in that.

We were lucky here. Caught the northern edge as it passed. There does seem to be a dry gap Southport to Blackburn. Think things will change as the morning progresses 🤞.

  3. We've been sat under low cloud since 10 this morning. It's as close to sitting inside the freezer as possible. Still not risen above -2c. The difference even a weak sun makes on days like today is incredible. Any soft ground is now rock hard so anything falling from the sky later will stick or freeze on impact.

  4. What a memorable couple of days we've had. As someone whose been a bit of a weather geek for 35 yrs or so I never thought I'd see these sort of summer days round here. Locally I think we got to 35c yesterday and probably 37c today. What was incredible though was the low humidity. It made everything much more bearable and not our usual sweatfest.

Stood outside this afternoon at around 3pm with the wind gusting a little reminded me of being in Lanzarote once during a calima wind off the Sahara. Like standing in front of the fan oven.

The cloud has come over and now sat in the house I'm not sure I've ever wished for the temperature to fall in summer as much as I do right now.
