  1. Haven't been around for a few days with family commitments, was just wanting to say hello really and having caught up on the thread, my thoughts are with you JP x
  2. .... And finally after 12 hours of watching heavy rain, we have some fairly heavy snow in Haywards Heath. I'm scared to even look at the radar as I wasn't even expecting this!
  3. I haven't seen anyone slag off the amounts in the UK, it's just that if you are in this forum you clearly have an interest in snow, and as such a huge event is happening, it is perfectly natural for people to comment or be in awe of it. The current storm in America was from two systems colliding that had already formed. It was clear to see the systems and the track they would take. The situation in the UK is different as the LP system hasn't formed so it's impossible to say precisely where the snow/rain will fall, hence why there has been many changes in the forecasts for it and it will no doubt still throw up some more surprises. That's why the MetO have struggled to be more precise with the current forecast for this up and coming event. I don't think the MetO have done too badly this winter at all
  4. I think there's even more than that! Up to 30 inches has fallen in places so far and it's not done yet! I know it's going to cause probs....especially the high tide and flooding, but must be incredible to see.
  5. I wonder if we'll get scenes like this on Monday when we open our front doors That's one serious snow storm they're having in the US! I do hope we get to see some snowflakes fall in the next couple of days, especially as it's so unpredictable at the moment. I think it's so much better to have this scenario whereby we are hoping rather than expecting, so much better than expecting only to see a downgrade and nothing!
  6. Literally.... Legend! He must never be allowed to leave the mod thread... Like.... Ever!
  7. Steps are good, there's always the ones you've done and the ones you can still take ;-)
  8. I agree, DRW is fast becoming a legend and as much as Radar Love should be an anthem for us on here, we must accept that it is in actual fact.... Pants. Perhaps, we should come up with our own (totally weather related, region specific and on topic) song!
  9. Too much consumption of alcohol? Black pavements? Sledges left destitute in sheds? NW forum members reduced to public humiliation as they snow dance? Frankly, we, here in the SE are coping with it very well. YES, we were forecast a snowbomb, YES, we've watched it almost fizzle out before detonation... But.. And this is a BIG but..... Us South Easterners, would rather have proper full fat snow than any potential awkward mix. And on that note I shall say goodnight and take residence on the 'step' for the duration. ... Oh, okay, we'd probably also celebrate a sighting of a flake.... Which may be followed up with pictures and a couple of whoops. (ok, I'm totally on the naughty step now, me and the naughty step are one)
  10. I actually think I love Dutch Ryan Weatherman, his optimism knows no bounds.. :-)
  11. MKSA I'm fully prepared to hit the naughty step but this really made me chuckle. Thought it might lighten the mood... So you see, it's a positive post? Oh, and it's kinda rubbish, dampish, too warmish bleurgh here, but on a positive note, I plan to drink enough vodka to convince myself it's snowing!
  12. I'd like to see them, am always in awe of snow piccies even when its not IMBY
  13. Absolutely brilliant, you've certainly cheered up my day. I'm off to get equipped with shovels....
  14. Oh! I rest my case ;-) Lovely, crisp and sunny this morning. Won't be making any snow assumptions, just lots of fingers and toes crossing for me this time.
  15. Hi, Do you...... Stare so hard into the garden sometimes that you start to see dots in front of your eyes and convince yourself it's snowing? Whoop with delight when a white feather floats down and catches your eye, only to then pretend that you were whooping about something else entirely as it clearly wasn't a snowflake? Flick from channel to channel watching the weather and only believe the one suggesting snow for your area? Stay up to silly hours (probably drinking) watching the snow fall in the light of a lamp post, blatantly refusing to go to bed for fear of missing one flake? Peep out of the curtains when snow is forecast but cover up your obsession to family and friends by making ridiculous excuses as to why you need to take more rubbish out/check the car/pop to the neighbours house etc? Head over to the model thread and ignore all of the negative posts but get excited about all the snowmaggeddon ones? Have more than one weather app on your mobile phone? Get more than just a little bit excited when anyone mentions pink blobs? Find yourself in the garden measuring snowfall and taking an unprecedented amount of pictures when it does settle? If you can answer yes to any of these, you will find a strong family of like-minded people in here
  16. Wow! That looks incredible! I'm just like, so, so happy for them....
  17. Add some cordial and you'd have a slush puppy! ...Well, without getting too technical on y'all, I'd have to say it's chuffin' cold here, that wind sure has a sting in it's tail. I told my youngest daughter to keep her vest tucked in to stop the draughts getting in, she has just been on the phone to her nan telling her that she has to keep her vest tucked in because of the giraffes!
  18. (I really should get on with some work, trying to get motivated in the dully, dullness )
  19. A little tune to brighten up this dreary day......Beach Boys anyone? Well South East girls are hip I really dig their charming flair And the Essex girls with the way they tan Who needs the sun when you're down there? The Kentish gardens daughters make the rain seem warm and light And the Sussex girls are all snow obsessed They watch the lampposts late at night I wish they all could be South and Eastern I wish they all could be South and Eastern I wish they all could be South and Eastern girls The South East coast has sunshine But they'd trade it all for snow If you threw in a blizzard, just for a laugh The South and Eastern girls would glow. I've been all round the UK And I've seen all kinds of girls But there's never a place, Who thinks an inch is just ace, Like the South and Eastern belles I wish they all could be South and Eastern I wish they all could be South and Eastern I wish they all could be South and Eastern girls
  20. Right, goodnight folks. Best get a couple of early ones in if there's a chance I might be trees and flying bins watching on Friday!
  21. Quite an interesting rhyming slang 'aris', for anyone remotely interested, it derives from a double whammy of Aristotle = Bottle, Bottle and Glass = Ar*e, therefore just giving you the shortened version of 'aris'......(cockney parents).... moving swiftly back to the weather....
