Are there any other models that forecast cloud cover, other than UKV?
Had a look through but couldn’t find one. Strangely enough, the Met Office video forecast did not mention too much in the way of cloud tomorrow, other than the far East & SW, but the website shows cloud over London…

Finally get a day off 2moz to enjoy this spell of Summer weather and now the forecast have decided to say it will be mostly cloudy. I wonder who out there I have aggravated so much that they decided to put a curse on me! At least Saturday is still looking good....for now...
Id planned to be out enjoying the sun tomorrow but I’ve just seen the same. Met Office going with cloudy & BBC going with clear blue skies - BBC had it right on Sunday so fingers crossed.
The UKV doesn’t look too convincing unfortunately though, showing cloud cover too

So who’s going to be correct this weekend, BBC Weather or Met Office?
Met Office has it being cloudy tomorrow & Sunday, whereas BBC has sunny intervals tomorrow & sunny on Sunday.
The UKV this morning looked like broken cloud both days rather than thick cloud both days.

Summer really doesn’t feel like it’s kicked on this year, and doesn’t look as though we’ll be seeing a prolonged plume anytime soon, sadly. June looks to have been the peak.
Time to get out & enjoy the sun that we do have today!
Off to Northern Italy for a few days next week where it looks as though it’s going to be 36/37c - that will be a shock to the system…

Having just driven from London which was completely cloudy to Hemel, it is now clear blue skies surprisingly.
I can also second Italy having a bad start to May having visited Palermo & experiencing only 1 sunny day. One day of torrential rain, and the others were grey / rainy.

I’m surprised it’s not more busy in here with the short term upgrades with the snow tomorrow, seems we all have a great chance tomorrow looking at the ECM.

Even at 30c the UK still managed to provide rain rather than sun on my run not that we don’t need it!

The last 2 or 3 GFS runs seem to have decreased this Fridays temperatures to around 23c from around 29/30c yesterday morning. I don’t have access to UKMO and ECM surface temps, does anyone know what they’re predicting for Friday?

38.9c to be recorded next Sunday - pip the 38.7c record from 2019.

Gone completely silent here now, though I managed to capture a few flashes, not great quality though.

Now I'm sat just outside Hemel hempstead along the A41 and can see lightning all around me, especially to the south and west. May head back to my view point at RAF Halton on the Chiltern Hills.
Head up Dodds Lane in Hemel if you stick around, it’s a small country Lane but it’ll give you a higher vantage point, and I’m pretty sure there’s some areas you can pull over.

Are the chances of some lightning storms a bit better for London / SE tomorrow?

Looking at the ECM at the timeframe Monday 00:00, the +10 T850 is miles further North in comparison to the GFS at the same time. Looks as though we'd at least get another good day out of that on Monday.
Surely we cannot assume the GFS solution is going to be correct for very early next week when the ECM is going with this.

Is there any chance of heavy snowfall when the breakdown occurs and the Atlantic comes fighting back?
It would be nice to see some heavy snowfall as much as the consistent light snowfall has been nice!

That's what I have my eye on. Waiting for it to disintegrate but seems to holding for now.. If it did make it i wouldn't expect more than a dusting / cm or two (if lucky). Better than nothing i suppose!
Looks to be making inroads from when I last checked! As to whether the intensity will weaken I don’t know

The upper 850hPa temps are around -28C -/+ and coupled with the upper 500hPa around the same temp will create instability = heavier snow
500hPa is more favourable from 3pm for the areas S-SE
The following excerpts are courtesy of null.com
Hi Yamkin, by the S-SE, do you mean S-SE of London or the general Southern parts of the UK?

Biggest flakes seen so far here in Hampstead. Maybe it’s positive signs for later

Had a covering on all paths and roads overnight in Hampstead from the band of PPN that crossed around 3/4am. That was more than I expected so can’t complain.
It’ll be a shame if there isn’t a widespread snow event for this region before the end of this cold snap, the snow 2 weeks ago was much more exciting and it melted by the evening!
Enjoy the large amounts of snow everyone to the East

Snow settling on the cars and a tiny tiny bit on the roads. Best we’ll probably get in Hampstead but still better than some in the West so can’t complain.
I see people writing the rest of the week off for any significant snow, that’s such a shame :(

The UKV showing a lot of cloud cover for tomorrow, as per the image below. I imagine that the ECM is not predicting as much cloud cover with the 34c I’ve seen mentioned above?
