  1. Pretty sure by now its a non-event. Wales thread reporting hardly anything, don't see any evolution on the front from scotland. All mainstream media reporting rain or nothing at all. If even the (IMHO) "rampy" NW charts predict sleet, its time to call it. Looks cool, rather than cold for the foreseeable according to the Beeb and MET O. There's a wry smile on the energy companies' faces, not really on anybody elses though...
  2. Far too early for xmas decs, mulled wine et al. TWELVE days of xmas, not 30! 'tis not (yet) the season to be jolly Christmas creep IMHO is becoming a real problem especially in the last few years (driven mostly by commercial interests). It somehow cheapens Christmas when some people would have it start from the last Halloween parties.
  3. Rugged = rough. I know, u were just trying to be polite! What happened to that Dan weatherman ("little troublemaker") and all that? Ah, Daniel Corbett
  4. Wow! Brass monkeys in Ashford -5.5 ALREADY I dont think my heating bills can take much more of this...is it OK to say I'm bored with this cold spell now? Roll on the mild. When's it coming back f f s this is costing me a fortune, and I fail to be excited about it any more. treacherous icy everywhere, still over 2 inches of lying snow from last week. Getting very very boring now... Utility companies are "lovin' it". I'm not.
  5. Not just the radar, apparently... Hint of snow, and the forum crashed. Lets hope it can hack it l8er
  6. Not really. Not unless you like rain...( Or snow that melts quickly...
  7. I think its *slightly* east. But not enough to make any difference. Reckon its a miss!
  8. Council workers? Ott? They dont care. Its not their money...
  9. I think the blob to the sw of the red area is also fake, otherwise it would've ppn here a little while ago; it didnt!
  10. Only if you believe the radar. And we can'r right now. People living where the radar shows ppn simply don't have any, not significantly.
  11. Nowcasting snow is a nightmare @ the best of times... So why's the radar letting us down at our greatest time of need? I wonder what's causing all the fake echoes? Its not all that hot air rising from Yamkin's ramps, is it? :help: :help: :help: etc etc
  12. Intensity of the showers looks quite hard over the North Sea, but decaying rapidly on landfall, according to http://raintoday.co.uk
  13. You mean their driveway And preferably you wouldn't sue anyone, you'd just chide yourself for not being more careful. Blame and claim culture, anyone? No wonder the schools close when 0.001 cm of snow is on the ground... You're probably not used to that Im guessing you are not married, then! :
  14. PPN does seem to be dying rather quickly as it moves south, thou. Looking at radar, with long gaps inbetween whilst I work, its not really making any inroads, thats clear to see. Neither is that stuff moving down thru Norfolk, also disappearing
  15. Excuse ignorance, but can you explain how to see the 528 dam line on these charts?
  16. Sarah, Countryfile sez: min temps tonight -8, no more PPN Dry and cold, slow thaw rest of week ...in a nutshell
  17. Personally speaking, I am glad of quick thaws. Fun for a short time, esp. as its falling, but then its just damn inconvenient and I'm pleased to see it go. It just gets dirty, hacked up and looks a mess very quickly. And my dog doesnt know where to go to the loo! And, since it fell on a weekend, for those who have the thaw: good news! No skiving off work tomorrow! Thats the last thing we need in a recession -- "snow days" Even here, where there's hardly any melt, the main roads are all clear. Good news! Monday is a GO for work...
