Getting hammered here in west kingsdown about 8cm -3.4c mad!!!
Meanwhile, at more sensible elevations, not a noteworthy event.
-
Are you two for real? You do realise it has been pasting it down W/S and SW of London?!
Yes, for real! Even if its snowing where you are, in these temps, it'll be gone by the morning!
-
The front is barely moving North anymore. Some areas that are under the ppn on the radar are reporting nothing. Some areas (mainly near the coast) are seeing snow turning to rain or sleet rather than snow throughout. There's a reason the professionals (i.e. the Met Office) only have a yellow warning out and have only covered areas to the South and West of the region.
From what we've seen here, its just a band of sleet and snizzle.
Not entirely unexpected: its nr 3 degrees here. Big thaw today.

I've just read it to my little boy and thought a good one to use for my profile pic and ofcourse pretty apt, at least with the current weather
Shame its not original. Someone else in here might remember whos using that as a profile pic, too, coz I cant

Can't believe there isn't a bit more excitement in here, 20 miles further north and we in the game
Probably coz its 4 degrees and we are in the midst of a rapid thaw!

Fine and powdery but, at last, something in Goudhurst! Was feeling very left out!
Fine & powdery is good, so long as there's enough of it!
I wont mention the M word, but big flakes can mean it could be M...

Quick calculation by me and Lennon the dog...
Approx.rate at moment is abt 2.5cm per hour.
And Lennon reckons DP is really about -2
-
No problems with marginality then, AF!
Heh, all I know is it freaks when its below zero dp.
So its minus something, thats all I know!
-
This is much much better than the dandruff event couple days ago.
Already more has fallen since the start than during the whole dandruff fiasco.
-
Provided tempsand dps stay low today, and the precip doesnt spread itself too thin, (surrey doesnt need any more!) it'll be a good one.
Noticing very little wind.
Everything very white!

Moderate snow hr last 20 mins
temp -0.8
dp -175.4 (!) damn weather station
a centimetre in abt 20 mins?

Have a few thoughts myself and one for the ladies!
Snow is like a Mans Genitals
1. Its Measured in Inches
2. Its soft to the touch
3. It comes when you least expect it!
4. It never gets as deep as you would like it!
Thats my kind of mod!
I bet he wasnt the one that put in the (bit about maturity issues). That whole c0ckcr0ft thing was hilarious the other night!
In other news, another not so nice one, who shall remain nameless, is beating up our favourite Mr. Murr in the models thread.
That mod needs moderating. Have a word, would you?

They weren't exactly wrong yesterday? I'm pretty sure quite a few are seeing snow on the ground?! Yea it was hit and miss the further east it went but that was kind of expected. We were just hoping something could push a bit further east.
I beg to differ, couldn't have been 'wronger'.
Suppose it depends on your definition of 'heavy', 'widespread' and 'disruptive'.
-
When you've experienced January 1987 and February 1991 on top of the North Downs yesterdays 'event' was truly minuscule in comparison!! Dire really
Totally pathetic, yes. dont forget 79/81
-
1cm of dandruff here (and thats a very optimistic asessment,
Temps above zero so paths are visible again.
Nothing at all on the radar.
Welcome to the big thaw!
I can't believe you peeps that missed out are ramping the same old tired predictions and models that have now been consistently wrong for over a week!
The maligned bbc 5 day forecast online has proven to be the most reliable during our time 'in the fridge' (note fridge, not freezer!)

Fellow residents of the south east, I know some of you have the raintoday radar bookmarked, and it is a well loved view of the rain (snow) today. But did you know that http://www.netweather.tv/radar updates faster, has lightning, satellite and your weather reports as optional layers. And it makes sure I don't have to keep selling the kids school shoes on eBay, one at a time...
If i sign up, can you promise guarantee to get it to send some non-dandruff snow up to Ashford?
-
Raintoday says its all gone by 10 or before.
here's to 3 mm!
-
I wish that was the case. The low is centered over Ireland, though
Definitely some kind of rotation onthr radar...check it
-
3 hours of dandruff now.
Seen "deeper" heavy frosts!
-
I finally worked it out, we must be in the centre of a low.
Its flinging out snow for every other sod, just none for us!
Look @ the flow on any radar...
-
Shall this event, for evermore, be known as the "Jan 2013 dandruff event".
Pathetic!

#What's the point in freezing your nuts off if you're not going to get a bit of snow fun out of it? I'd prefer not to have the heating on constantly, at least when its snowing there's a reason for it to be cold!
Patience,Daniel. I know we keephaving to findmore and more (first Sunday, then Tuesday, Wednesday, slushfests, etc
What would you rather? 8 Degrees and absolutely nochance?
Or still in with a shout after 8 or 9 pm? Stuff is coming up more and more from the South. Channel is creating precip and the flow isin the right direction
