Makes you think they know something we don't really, at the moment cancaling trains is an over reaction, considering we are expecting light to moderate stuff.
I used to work as a teacher -- similar thing there. Its almost institutionalised with some professions like that - its almost as if the managers enjoy the drama of unfolding, changing weather patterns!

Q:
I asked this on the model thread, but no replies and its troubling me again:
Why is it that all the mod charts are in foreign? They seem to be in either french or german, even the one thats called UKMO (UK met Office, no?)
so how come is that? Is it just coz we dont have UK websites that publish the data?
-
raintoday shows incoming for Brighton , ETA 1 hour or less.
Dont know if its anaprop or real.
-
Yeah that's the one. It was fine until late last night though
I think ull find it only goes stupid when dp goes below zero.
Mines always done it, and I have googled it to kingdom come but cant find a software upgrade for it. Let me know if you ever find out anything about it, please!
It wont last too much longer. Those eggcups things on the wind sensor flew off into the air some months ago, and I hear there's cheap jobbies at Lidls now...
-
Mine is -176.6 too!!! Maybe its correct?
Is it a Watson W8681?
I think its buggy somewhere...
-
Can anyone answer my question??? Just new to all this streamer talk lol
#
I think you need an ENE or E blowing like a hooly with unstable air
-
Here goes my weather station again...
DP -176.6
why? its always done that!
-
Colder air arriving from the east as the wind strengthens? Though admittedly, temps are at least a few degrees higher across the SE atm than what the 18z GFS suggests!
Marginal, anyone?
If, after all this, tomorrow is another slushfest (we've had a couple here this week), I'm gonna....
Mind you, ground is frozen solid right now. Air temp on or slightly unda freezing

If you want to see c0ckcruft on the telly if you get south east, just google for 'bbc one live' -- its always the London feed
-
I missed the forecast - did the showers make it through London?
Worth checking again @ 22:25 or so.
Here's the link:
-
Any pics of what snow is falling?
Is it that lovely chrystalline (spelling?) stuff?
-
Across all of the South East?
Generally in the east, yes, not just the South East, either...all the way up thu EA into the humber and beyond.
Yes, it did include Rochester
-
Temps falling again in the middle of Kent.
Phew!
Temp 0.3
DP 0.2
-
Darren Bettsareoff on News24 just now has a good easterly flow for us on Sat/Sun with heavy showers packing in, quite prolonged...
-
Could be a bit of interest for you Southend members; looks like the stuff out in the estuary is expanding fairly rapidly now. Definitely worth watching
Agree. Though it would have to go some to come into Kent, might be an Essez and EA jobby

Good news day this.
On a serious note, is (if this doesn't say (if this doesn't say cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) Cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) (if this doesn't say cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) Cockroft on twitter? Surely if someone tweeted him to ask him to join Netweather he would oblige?
Wouldnt be a good day for him to join!
-
SE'lys give me the willies.
-
Temps creeping up
Was -2.4 @ 6pm ish
Now 0.6
.....BTW lol @ the (sudden) "maturity issues" people are having tonight -- never knew the London weather guy had soooo many aliarses!
-
WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THIS FORECASTER - https://www.facebook...&type=2
Instead we get woman who wants to be models as forecasters or (if this doesn't say cockroft when referring to a bbc forecaster, I have maturity issues) Cockroft who loves bad forecasts and rain
You really can't argue with a forecast like that. Not too "dumbed down", decent use of vocab, and explains well whats going on.
Should DEF be a national forecaster!

Peter Cockroft: "Be ready for the snow tomorrow"
west of london forecast to get the heavy stuff, 15cm perhaps -- half that east of London and in London itself
-
Back from home now so can officially get excited. I've been peeking at the forum all day but when I announced the impending snowmaggedon to the office, I was met by the sort of embarrassed silence you get when making an inappropriate comment at a dinner party - I'll get my coat!
Yes, I know that feeling!
-
Heh heh
CockSoft: "Looks like we could have some maaajjor disruption"

No wonder you lot are being so unkind to me!
When I looked at that, I didnt spot the obvious...
So I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me..
Still worrying, though the daytime temp today, and I HAVE seen binned runs in the model thread since the snowmageddon one over 24 hours ago.
I should be OK here, inland a bit for the doggie to play in it tomorrow!

Yes, just makes you wonder why there isn't a British equivalent site, doesnt it?
