Considering some of the reports coming in of severe damage over huge swathes of the UK, why is the media more concerned with Francoise Hollande's girlfriend?I would have thought this would be big news.
Because we live in a dumbed down celebrity culture of Simon Cowells (never the first to know its raining is he, at least I'm keeping a vague grip on the meteorological wheel.) Sad but true JennyJane. Religion is no longer the opium of the people, it's the Kardashians and the likes of Graham Norton earning multi milionaire salaries. God help us all. And I'm an empirical agnostic.

We got a rain shower two lightening strikes and one clap thunder. That was it?! Did it fizzle out?
It shot off very quickly across the North Sea to rattle some tea cups and coffee shop windows in the Benelux. I wouldn't fancy the North Sea ferries too much

Your obviously young as January 87 brought copious amounts of snow from a westerly from a two week cold spell.
I always remember that as a strong Easterly with a low over Italy.

Don't know why this made me laugh.
I've always been impressed by Greggs. It takes rare culinary genius to create food with absolutely no flavour whatsoever. I doff my floppy Chef's hat to them

I see Dominic Blizzard has just put Plymouth 2-1 up against Port Vale in the FA Cup third round replay. Let's hope he's not the only blizzard scoring in Blighty this winter.

it's here & it's hammering it down ,beyond ridiculous now ? I've got a man from the council coming tomorrow to my swamp ,just hope he brings a boat to inspect my garden as one of there trees fell into my fencing ,he's already trying to shift the blame onto the people who built my house ? Fun times , I might just tip him out of his boat if he doesn't sort out my fences or steal his ores . Poor sod lol
I've got the third damp seepage into my bedroom this winter now. They've already taken away the chimney stack after two days of scaffolding (replete with satellite dish which never worked again upon replacement) and it's looking like a case of "make room for the mushrooms" again on the inside of the wall which resembles a fungal Jackson Pollack. . Now I know how the Brontes caught consumption. No vertiginous heating bills thus far but plenty of other financial weather induced outlay. Bring on the cold.

Does this mean good news? i have no idea what this means
Hi Biensie
It's a forecasting system used by UKMO (the Met Office one) since 2012 (the latest and greatest purportedly.) I suspect that it too is picking up on colder options.

Evening all,
All this talk of storms reminded me of a visit to my sister who used to live in Andorra. We went to see her one summer when all the snow had melted and there were alpine streams running through the beautiful mountains. Driving back from town during the day to where she lived (which was on a ski resort) we would see the clouds around the tops of the mountains and we had to drive through them up the Pyrenees to get to her village. The evening before we left there was a huge thunder storm and we watched for hours as the lightning hit the mountains. It was amazing and after that I never feared them again, instead I've found them amazing! I've never seen anything like that before or since but totally understand why people find hem scary.
BTW, She lives in Watford now....l not sure the storms there are quite as dramatic
A lot more Muslims though

The ones with the serrated edges, look its a snow depth cup, not an herbaceous plant lesson!
Cheers,
Tom
Perhaps the winner should be the contestant who can make the golden word "Birmingham" from his four letters.

Got any spare chocolate ?
I've got a four fingered Kit Kat in the fridge. No calm I'm not going to do the Joan Collins joke.

I'm fingering a bottle of Hennessey VSOP here myself. Although in this case it could stand for Visible Snow 0 Percent

High winds in SW London now.
It snowed on & off all day in Blackfriars, central London, but nothing stuck at all
Yep I'm in the Mellon building opposite Blackfriars Station and it seemed to be heavy - nothing -heavy - nothing. Nothing settled though.

I totally agree with you. As I walk along the road avoiding the sad ranks of people staring at their phones, I despair. I guess the human race are like rats. They'll keep breeding until the food runs out and then they'll turn completely on each other. The Atlantic fronts will survive though!
